Why Does Moving Give You More Energy?
Have you ever spent several hours sitting and somehow ended up feeling more tired than if you had been moving?
Then you finally get outside, walk for ten minutes, or start moving around the house, and something changes. You feel more awake, your thoughts clear a little, and the energy you were trying so hard to conserve suddenly seems more available.
It sounds backwards because movement uses energy.
But the body is not simply a battery that empties every time you move. Movement is also one of the signals that helps your muscles and energy-producing systems maintain the capacity to do more.
And your muscles are doing far more than moving your body. When they contract, they actually communicate with other parts of the body through chemical messengers, which means even a short period of movement starts a much bigger conversation inside you.
So instead of always asking:
“Do I have enough energy to move?”
There may be another question worth trying:
“Would moving change the energy I have?”
That is what we explore in this week’s Movement Matters article.

This helps explain something many people already recognize. You can sit through several hours of work and become increasingly foggy and tired, yet a short walk can change the way you feel, even though the walk technically requires additional energy.

Chakra Cleanse Begins September 22
Most of us spend an enormous amount of time paying attention to what is happening around us.
What needs to be done. What someone else needs. What has changed. What has to be answered. What is happening next.
What we are not always as practiced at is noticing what is happening within us while all of that is going on.
That is the heart of our Chakra Cleanse, beginning September 22.
This is a seven-week guided experience built around 35 days of working with the chakras as an interconnected system, using aromatherapy, colour, sound and mantra, stones, food, nature, meditation, written reflection and live guidance. The purpose is not simply to learn what each chakra represents, but to begin recognizing patterns in the way you think, react, communicate, choose, relate and move through your life.
Sometimes the most important discovery is not dramatic at all.
It is simply realizing:
“I do this every time.”
And once you can see the pattern, you have somewhere to begin.
If you have been feeling drawn to understanding yourself on a deeper level, this may be the right time to explore it.
Chakra Cleanse begins September 22.

Your Body Doesn’t Read the Nutrition Label
We have become very good at turning food into numbers.
Calories. Protein. Fibre. Sugar.
Those numbers can be useful, but they do not tell the whole story of what your body is actually receiving.
A whole food arrives with structure, fibre, water, nutrients, and plant compounds all working together. Once that food is heavily refined, separated, altered, and rebuilt, the label may still look respectable, but the body is no longer dealing with the same thing in the same way.
That is one of the ideas behind this week’s Nutrition Matters article.
We look at the difference between being fed and being nourished, why the structure of food matters, and why feeling stimulated or full does not necessarily mean your body has been given what it needs to produce steady energy.
The question is not only:
What is in this food?
It is also:
What happened to this food before it reached me?
Read: Your Body Doesn’t Read the Nutrition Label →

We have become very accustomed to deciding whether a food is good for us by turning the package around and reading the numbers. We look at calories, protein, fibre, sugar, and perhaps a few vitamins and minerals, and if the numbers seem respectable, it is easy to assume that the body will experience...

A Better Way to Go With the Flow
Most of us in Canada are used to turning on the tap and expecting water to be there, so it is easy to forget how much the way water moves around us is beginning to matter.
Long dry stretches can be followed by sudden heavy rain, and when that rain comes too quickly, much of it may rush away before the ground has a chance to absorb what it needs. That leaves us dealing with two very different problems that are actually connected: too much water at once, and not enough available later.
In this week’s Climate Watch, we look at what that means whether you live in an apartment, a suburban neighbourhood or on a rural property, and how surprisingly simple changes can help us work with water instead of only reacting when there is too much or too little.
The question is not really how we control water.
It is:
How do we slow it down, save some for later, and work with the way it naturally moves through the places where we live?

For most of us in Canada, water has always seemed abundant. We turn on the tap and expect it to be there. And most of the time it is! But increasingly erratic weather is changing the way we need to think about water. Long dry stretches can be followed by sudden heavy rain — sometimes so much, so q...

Energy Balancer & Energy Cleanser — 20% Off
After spending this week looking at energy from so many different directions, it made sense to put two of our long-standing energy products on special.
There are times when we come away from a conversation, an environment, or a particularly demanding day feeling unlike ourselves. Sometimes we feel heavy or unsettled, and other times it is simply that sense that we have taken on more than we want to continue carrying.
Energy Cleanser and Energy Balancer were created for two different parts of that experience. The Cleanser is used when you want to clear what feels accumulated around you, while the Balancer is intended to help you return to a more centred, even state afterward.
The important part is still the awareness we have been talking about throughout this week’s Energy series: notice what changed, what you were around, and how you feel now. These products give you a practical aromatherapy and energetic tool to use alongside that awareness.
Energy Balancer and Energy Cleanser are 20% off through Friday, September 4. No code needed.

Your Unique Energy Field
Have you ever noticed that you are not quite the same person around everyone?
There may be one person who brings out your confidence, another around whom you become more careful with your words, and someone else whose company leaves you feeling completely different from the way you felt before you saw them. We often describe it as chemistry, personality, mood, or atmosphere, but this article asks us to look at it from another direction.
What if each of us carries a recognizable energetic pattern of our own, and what happens when that pattern begins interacting with someone else’s?
Over time, family, friendships, workplaces, and communities can all influence the way we think, respond, and even see ourselves, sometimes so gradually that we stop noticing where our own natural way of being ends and someone else’s influence begins.
That leads to a question I think is worth sitting with:
How much of the energy you are carrying actually belongs to you?
We explore that idea in Your Unique Energy Field, including how we may begin to recognize what strengthens us, what changes us, and what may have been absorbed along the way.

Everything has its own way of being in the world, and we recognize that far more readily than we may realize. What Is Energy, Really?
Have you ever walked into a room and known something had happened before anyone told you? Spent time with someone and realized afterward that your whole mood had changed? Or gone outside for a walk feeling completely depleted and come back feeling like something in you had shifted?
We use the word energy to describe experiences like these all the time, yet most of us have never really stopped to ask what we mean by it.
For this week’s Wellness Letter, I wanted to take that question much further. We looked at the physical energy that our bodies use every second, the way sound, light, scent, food, and other people affect us, and then moved into the energetic traditions that have been observing another side of human experience for generations.
This article it is an invitation to start noticing what you may already have been experiencing for most of your life.
What energy changes you? What energy strengthens you? And how often do you notice the change before simply carrying on with your day?
Come explore What Is Energy, Really? and see whether a few of the connections make you look at your own energy a little differently.

We use that word in so many different ways that it is worth stopping to ask what we actually mean by it. We say we have no energy, that someone has wonderful energy, or that a place feels strange. We use the word energy all the time. We say we have none left, that someone changed the energy in a room, that certain foods give us energy, or that getting outside and moving can somehow make us feel more alive. Most of us recognize these experiences immediately, but we rarely stop to ask what is a...

A time to receive and regenerate. What a blessing this is.

Reiki & Energy Work Sometimes what you need isn't another thing to do. You need an opportunity to stop, become still, and allow yourself to receive. Reiki has been part of my life and work for more than 30 years. For me, it is more than a technique used during an appointment; it is a daily practice....

What is your child really learning when they go back to school?

When we send a five- or six-year-old off to school, we naturally think about what they're going there to learn. Reading, numbers, writing, listening to the teacher, following instructions, and eventually all of the things that make up an education.

But imagine being five years old and walking into a room filled with children you don't know, adults you don't know, and rules you haven't learned yet.

There is another education happening at the same time.

Your child is watching what happens when someone gets angry. They're finding out who gets included and who doesn't. They're discovering whether asking for help works, what happens when another child isn't kind, how much of themselves they can comfortably show, and what they have to do to find their place among all these new people.

Some children will tell you every detail before they've even got their shoes off.

Others will come home, eat their snack, play with their toys, and tell you school was “good.”

Both children may have had an emotionally draining or confusing day.

I think that's why these early school years deserve more conversation than whether our child likes their teacher or is keeping up academically. They're beginning to form ideas about people, relationships, and themselves, and they don't always have enough experience yet to understand what they're seeing.

So in this week's conversation, we're looking at school from the perspective of that little five- or six-year-old walking through the doors.

What are they learning that nobody actually put on the curriculum — and how can we help them make sense of it when they come home?

Read: What Is Your Child Really Learning When They Go Back to School? On the Casaroma Wellness blog.

When we send a child back to school in September, most of our attention naturally goes toward the things we can see and prepare for. We make sure the shoes still fit, find the backpack, buy the supplies, figure out who the teacher will be, wonder whether any familiar friends will be in the classroom...
