What if….
Lord I want to thank you for all that you have done and for the open doors you provided for me.
But will I be able to maintain it all? Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake, big or small?
What if I fall back into old habits, lose myself and the things that I have gained? What if people distrust me and I have to start over again?
Your hands of mercy all though good and compassionate can sometimes be scary from where I stand. I wish I could say that I trust myself with this load you do thoughtfully put in my hands.
I am afraid that I may not be the person you see me to be, I am afraid of losing sight of the growth, with you, that is present in me.
I know your hands are not to short but what if I miss it? What if I sabotage these gifts that you have insisted.
How do I find that balance between your bountiful gift and my striving hands.
How do I trust in your goodness, when all I remember is the shadows of pain endured.
Please open my eyes to see your light constantly shining bright! Shining bright on me and the gifts you regularly bring.
Help me to see that walking in gratefulness is all I need. It ushers my insight, my love, my care and my response.
Help me to see that it is less about what I do and more about who walks with me.
Help me to see that I am never alone. That you are leading me and guiding me through.
Your words and insights are all I need. If I stay plugged in to you, your truth will envelope me.
So if I should ask the question again? What if… I‘ll hear you simple say, “And oh I am with you always, just abide with me and you’ll make it through.
