💊 Taking Metformin? This is worth knowing.
Metformin is a commonly prescribed medication used to help manage blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Over time, it can sometimes lower Vitamin B12 levels.
Low B12 may cause symptoms like:
🔹 tiredness or weakness
🔹 numbness or tingling
🔹 a sore or red tongue
🔹 anemia
Because some of these symptoms can also occur with diabetes, it isn’t always obvious what’s causing them.
If you’ve been taking metformin long-term, or you’re experiencing symptoms that could be related to low B12, ask us whether checking your B12 level may be appropriate for you.
Keep taking your medication as prescribed and if you have questions, talk to us.
