June is Men’s Mental Health Month 💙

Mental health affects everyone — regardless of age, background, or gender. Yet many men still feel pressure to stay silent, “be strong,” or handle everything on their own.

This month is a reminder that struggling is human, asking for help is courageous, and support matters.

Check in on your friends. Start conversations. Listen without judgment. One simple message or conversation could make a bigger difference than you realize.

No matter who you are or what you’re going through — your mental health matters.

📣Today is Red Shirt Day! This day of Action for Accessibility and Inclusion coincides with National AccessAbility Week. We wear red to celebrate and show our support for people living with disabilities — and to stand together for a more accessible and inclusive future.

Please join us this Friday, June 5 at 10:00 for this very important information session.
This program offers support over a 13 week period.
Do you know someone who might benefit?

Do you have a project idea that could help raise awareness of the importance of accessibility and disability inclusion in different sectors, workplaces and communities across Canada?

If you do, then now is the perfect time to apply for funding through the Accessible Canada Fund.

The deadline to apply is July 28 at 3 pm EDT: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/accessible-grants-accessability-week.html

Image description:
Two people are greeting each other with a clasped handshake: one person uses a prosthetic leg and the other is seated in a wheelchair. The text reads, “National Accessibility Week, May 31 to June 6, 2026” and “Together, let’s build a more accessible and inclusive Canada.” The visual ends with the Canada Wordmark.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

This month, we celebrate love, identity, inclusion, and the strength of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. At Cowichan Valley Independent Living, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, supported, and empowered to be their authentic selves.

We are proud to stand with our community this Pride Month and every month as we continue working toward accessibility, equality, and inclusion for all. ❤️
