I have talked a lot about this during my own pregnancies and it’s worth repeating!
The research is clear!
Resistance training during pregnancy has a lot of benefits for you and your baby!
For mom🤰
-lower risk of gestational diabetes, improved mood and immune health, better sleep, less back pain
For Baby 👶
-improved blood flow to placenta, better metabolism and brain development
How long and to what extent you can workout during pregnancy depends on what kind of pregnancy you are experiencing and if you have worked out and lifted weights regularly before being pregnant! 👉Always clarify with your doctor or midwife.
But generally if you have an uncomplicated pregnancy and have worked out before being pregnant you can keep working out (or running, I am sharing my own journey in this video)
Listen to your body. Typically you want to avoid exercises on your back or stomach after the first trimester and at some point you will stop high impact movements like running and jumping.
Your body will tell you!
If you are unsure I highly recommend working with a trainer!
