World Arthritis Day was yesterday, and the point of it outlasts the date. Osteoarthritis is the most common form, and the evidence is consistent: structured exercise and joint-loading programs are a core part of management.

A Registered Physiotherapist can help you build a routine that respects your joints, progresses gradually, and fits the rest of your life. Our team also works with people preparing for or recovering from joint replacement surgery.

If arthritis is affecting how you move, book an initial assessment at trustcarephysio.ca or call (825) 525-2983.

A practical one while there is still time to use it.

Most extended health plans run on the calendar year, so unused physiotherapy coverage disappears on December 31. It does not roll over and it does not get credited back.

Two things worth checking this month: how much of your allowance is left, and whether your plan resets on January 1 or on your employment anniversary. Both arrangements are common and people regularly assume the wrong one.

We direct bill more than 40 insurers, so in most cases you pay only your portion on the day.

Chiropractic care at Trust Care is provided by Dr. Jalal Hussein, DC, registered with the College of Chiropractors of Alberta.

Having chiropractic and physiotherapy under one roof matters for a practical reason: the two plans can reference each other instead of running in parallel with no one comparing notes. Some presentations respond better to joint-focused care, some to loading and exercise, and a lot of people do well with both.

No referral is needed to book. If you are not sure which route fits what you are dealing with, the assessment is where that gets sorted out.

Custom orthotics only work if the measurement underneath them is right.

We scan gait in clinic rather than working from a foam box impression alone, which means the device is built around how your foot actually loads when you walk, not how it sits when you stand still.

Orthotics are worth considering for persistent heel pain, arch pain, shin pain that keeps returning with running, and knee or hip pain where the pattern starts at the ground.

They are one tool in a plan, not the whole plan. The assessment decides whether they are the right tool for you.

Today is the International Day of Older Persons. Maintaining strength, balance, and mobility through your 60s, 70s, and beyond is one of the strongest predictors of staying independent at home.

Registered Physiotherapists work with older adults on balance training, strength work, joint mobility, and post-surgical recovery. The team also coordinates with family physicians and home-care providers when needed.

If you or a parent has noticed a change in walking, balance, or strength, an initial assessment is the right starting point. trustcarephysio.ca, (825) 525-2983.

Edmonton's first frost usually lands before anyone has changed how they walk.

The injuries that follow are predictable: wrists from catching a fall, tailbones, and the shoulder that got wrenched grabbing a railing. Most of them happen on the walk from the car, not on a hike.

Two things that help now, while there is still time. Shorten your stride on cold mornings and keep your hands out of your pockets so you can react. And if your balance is not what it was, September is the month to work on it, not January.

September is Pain Awareness Month. Persistent pain, defined as pain that lasts longer than three months, is one of the most common reasons people are referred to a Registered Physiotherapist.

Modern pain care is multimodal. That can include manual therapy, graded exposure to movement, education about how pain works, and a structured exercise plan you can do at home. The goal is not to push through pain. It is to understand what your nervous system is responding to and rebuild capacity from there.

If something has been hurting for more than a few weeks, book an initial assessment at trustcarephysio.ca or call (825) 525-2983.
