Can we just admit that sometimes as healing practitioners we don't have the full picture of what's going on?
A client comes in with an issue.
Okay...
Is it trauma?
Nervous system dysregulation?
A limiting belief?
Childhood conditioning?
An ancestral pattern?
Their architecture?
Something physiological?
Energetic?
The funny thing is, the more tools we collect, sometimes the MORE complicated it becomes.
Because knowing a lot of tools isn't the same thing as knowing what you're actually looking at.
One of the biggest shifts in my own work has been learning to ask a different question:
What kind of system would naturally produce what I'm seeing?
Because once you understand that, you stop throwing tools at symptoms hoping something sticks.
You start seeing the architecture underneath them.
And THAT changes the way you work with people.
It changes the questions you ask.
It changes the interventions you choose.
It changes how quickly you can identify what is actually keeping someone stuck.
And, most importantly, it can help create shifts that last beyond the session because you're no longer only working with the visible symptom. You're working with the system producing it.
We've seen this in our own work and with our clients: patterns that have repeated for years begin to make sense. People stop blaming themselves for what they couldn't previously understand. Practitioners become more confident because they can see why a particular approach is needed, rather than relying on guesswork.
That is the difference between collecting more tools and developing real discernment.
This is a huge part of what David and I are teaching in our upcoming training.
Not another modality to add to the pile.
A different way of seeing the person sitting in front of you so you can understand what is really happening, work with the root of the pattern, and support more meaningful change.
If you've been feeling that something is missing in your work, this may be the most valuable thing for you to learn right now.
Because the next level may not be another technique.
It may be learning how to see.
If this is speaking to something you've been wanting to understand more deeply, David and I would love to talk with you.
