October is always a month of reflection for me. I think about the excitement that came with opening our doors for the first time (13 years ago 👀) and all of the learning that first year brings.
I think about the first time I interviewed someone and how surreal it felt that someone wanted to work for me… and then the pressure I felt knowing I was responsible for their livelihood.
I think about my own clients that waited months for me to open… and the support they have shown me over the years, even as I shifted out of my own practice.
I think about the excitement I felt when we got our first new client. First repeat. First review. And although it now may not be surrounded with the same level of shock and excitement…. I must admit every new name I see, I notice. Because all these years later.. welcoming someone new to 3 Leaf still lights me up.
I think about the shifts I have gone through… from working 7 days a week, alternating massage, reception and every other part of running a business.
To stepping back, having babies and learning to trust my business in the hands of others. Which was only possible because of the incredible team I have had and continue to have by my side…. truly I am so lucky❤️
I think about the things we have navigated… 3 floods, a pandemic, the untimely break down of far too many washers and driers.
And, the natural departure of people who feel so ingrained in the fabric of 3 leaf.. it still surprises me we continued on without them.
And now, as I reflect on this last year in business… I think about change (something I am not great at 😅).
Moving to offer direct billing, adding new services like acupuncture and red light therapy. Shifts in people and clients. And generally, just a more challenging climate. Higher costs in every area… and clients navigating the same, which ultimately means people booking less.
It’s been a lot…. and we are in the middle of more of it, as we navigate some challenging times ahead.
I am left feeling my lesson this year may be letting go of things I cant control and trying to focus on what I can. Which … is not easy for me.
But as a business owner you learn quickly… easy was never part of the plan 😝
And so, as I sit with what this next year may bring … I am focusing on the things that fuel me. The excitement of a new client. The validation of a kind review. The gratitude of seeing a client rebook and continue their journey with us.
And the team of people who show up every day so ready to give of themselves in service of others.
I am excited for you to get to know the incredible new members of our team. From reception to acupuncture and new massage therapists.. they truly bring so much of themselves into the work they do. And it is because of them that we continue to get to share this space together ❤️
✨So cheers to 13 years. To our incredible clients and team.🎉
We appreciate your support and we look forward to having you on our tables and sharing in a small part of your journey.
It really is why we do this.

✨And a note for small business in general ✨
I wanted to add that while I am excited for the future we continue to build… I look around at so many local businesses closing their doors. I understand it and feel all of the same pressures.
As businesses we make changes, we find ways to we can save, invest more, and we work harder.. but it’s always a good reminder to support the spaces you love in the ways you can.
✨Share their posts.
