This is one of the most common (and frustrating) things I hear:
“I’m doing everything I used to do… and it’s not working anymore.”
Same workouts.
Same routines.
Same level of effort.
But your body is responding completely differently.
And naturally, the next thought is:
“I must not be doing enough.”
So you try to:
• eat less
• move more
• push harder
• be more disciplined
But instead of things improving… you feel more exhausted, more stuck, and more discouraged.
Here’s the reframe that matters:
This isn’t a motivation problem.
It’s not a willpower problem.
It’s a physiology shift.
As your hormones change (especially in perimenopause), your body starts to respond differently to:
• exercise
• stress
• recovery
• blood sugar fluctuations
You may also notice:
• changes in muscle mass
• increased sensitivity to stress
• needing more recovery than before
• different patterns in energy and sleep
So the strategies that used to work… don’t land the same way anymore.
And continuing to double down on them can actually make things worse.
What your body needs now isn’t more restriction or intensity—
it’s a more supportive, aligned approach.
One that works with your body instead of against it.
If you’ve been feeling stuck in this cycle…
you’re not doing it wrong.
You just haven’t been given the right strategy for this phase 🤍
