Questgiving is one of our favourite traditions at Quest for Independence, and this year was extra special as we celebrated our first Questgiving together at Centre 104!

With plenty of room for everyone to cook together, gather around the table, and spend time with one another, Centre 104 was the perfect place to bring everyone together for a Thanksgiving meal.

Everyone had a great time, and we’re happy to be making new memories and continuing traditions in our new space. 🧡

Also, great job on the decorations and delicious turkey!

David works as a Grocery Clerk at Sobeys, and its a job that he really enjoys!

One of his favourite parts of the job is completing his E-Learning and organizing the grocery shelves. He takes pride in his work and is happy to have a job that aligns with his strengths and interests in a workplace where he feels valued.

David’s experience is a great reminder of what inclusive employment can look like: having the opportunity to find meaningful work, contribute to a team, and enjoy being part of the workplace.

This Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re celebrating inclusive workplaces and the opportunities they create for people to build skills, contribute their strengths and find work they enjoy.

Sebastian has a job he really enjoys at Fun Park, where he works as a Court Monitor and Maintenance Worker.

He enjoys being part of the team, having a place to contribute, and getting to do work he takes pride in. When asked about his favourite part of the job, he said:

“Chores before closing. It’s fun, I like chores. Chores are fun because it’s fun cleaning and tidying the messy and dirty stuff, making them clean and neat.”

We’re glad Sebastian has found a workplace where he can do his job, contribute to the team, and enjoy going to work.

This Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the importance of inclusive employment and the difference it makes when people have opportunities to find work that fits their skills, interests and goals.

Here’s to more workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, feel like they belong and enjoy going to work!

Fall has officially arrived at Quest! 🍂

Our Quest participants have been making the most of the season together, from carving pumpkins and exploring the corn maze to checking out the fall displays at the Muttart Conservatory.

There’s been plenty of time outside, good weather, and lots of opportunities to get out into the community and enjoy the season together.

We’re soaking up every bit of fall while we can and wishing everyone a lovely long weekend! 🎃

Celebrating 50 Years by Giving Back

50 years of Sawmill wouldn’t have been possible without the communities that have supported us along the way.

That’s why our 50th Anniversary celebration is about more than looking back. It’s about giving back to the community that has been part of our story for five decades.

For our Edmonton 50th Anniversary Fundraising Gala, we’re proud to partner with five incredible Edmonton organizations supporting children, youth, individuals and families throughout our community.

Tickets are $99, with 100% of the ticket price going directly to our five Edmonton Community Partners. Funds will be distributed proportionally based on the number of nominations each organization receives.

During Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re sharing one of the ways CFASA supports inclusive employment through EmploymentWorks.

“EmploymentWorks has helped me to pinpoint the challenges and barriers that neurodivergent people face at work, and taught me numerous strategies to try and overcome them.”

EmploymentWorks supports individuals with disabilities who are ready to work and actively looking for employment. Participants work one-on-one with our team for up to 12 months to build a plan focused on finding a job, entering the workforce, and maintaining long-term employment success.

For many participants, that means building confidence, identifying barriers, developing strategies, and finding employment that aligns with their strengths, goals, and interests.

We’re proud to support Autistic and neurodivergent individuals as they work toward meaningful employment and to help create more inclusive workplaces along the way. We’re also incredibly grateful for the 19 employment partners we work with who help make these opportunities possible!

Are you interested in becoming an employment partner with us? Reach out to us at [email protected] to learn more.
