Jason, a Brain Care Centre client, recently travelled to Italy with his wife and faced a moment he says he’ll never forget. Halfway up a crowded ancient bell tower staircase, he became overwhelmed and feared he might not make it through the climb.
What happened next reminded him that even in our hardest moments, support from others can change everything.
June is Brain Injury Awareness Month — a time to recognize the realities of brain injury and the power of community support. Join us at the Brain Care Breakfast on June 2 as we come together to raise awareness, share stories, and support individuals living with brain injury.

Calling all organizations, practitioners, clinicians, and community leaders 👥

This Brain Injury Awareness Month, the Brain Care Centre is hosting a collaborative workshop for professionals supporting populations vulnerable to acquired brain injury.

Led by Janelle Breese Biagioni, a leading advocate for a national brain injury strategy, this session will explore the intersection of brain injury with housing insecurity, IPV, aging, mental health, substance use, and more — and how we can provide more connected, holistic support.

May is National Caregivers Awareness Month.

This month is a reminder that caregivers’ experiences deserve visibility and understanding. Caregiving—whether unpaid or professional caregiving—is often carried out alongside sacrifice, uncertainty, and emotional weight that can build over time. When caregivers are seen and supported, it not only strengthens them, but also the communities around them.

At Brain Care Centre, we recognize the importance of supporting caregivers. We offer 1-on-1 counselling and caregiver support groups designed to foster connection, understanding, and shared support.

If you are a caregiver, you are not alone—we are here to support you.

This April marked 15 years since the merger of NABIS (Northern Alberta Brain Injury Society) and EBIRS (Edmonton Brain Injury Relearning Society), bringing together a shared vision to better support individuals affected by brain injury.

We’re grateful for the community that has grown with us over the years—your support, trust, and connection mean everything.

Here’s to 15 years, and many more to come 💙
