When we become more present with where our attention is going, we can begin to understand why we sometimes feel disconnected — from ourselves, from the people we love, and from the life happening right in front of us.

Connection is one of the things we love most about retreat.

Every year, we are reminded of the many beautiful combinations of relationships this experience draws in. Friends, sisters, partners, solo travellers who become fast friends, and one of our favourites, mothers and daughters.

There is something really special about stepping away together. Away from the pace, the noise, the schedules, and the constant digital pull. Into nature. Into practice. Into conversation. Into rest.

Our summer retreat is designed to create space for you to reconnect with yourself through yoga, both on the mat and through the deeper inner layers of your being. As your nervous system begins to soften, your breath deepens, and you give yourself permission to be fully present, something beautiful happens.

Whether it’s the labels we place on ourselves or the ones we allow others to place on us, it’s easy to lose touch with what exists underneath.

There is a quieter, more honest part of you that is not defined by what you do for a living, who you care for, or even who you are striving to become.

It is the part of you that is connected to what you value most. The part that knows what brings you joy. The part that can feel content without producing, achieving, or proving anything.

This version of you cannot be found through scrolling, comparison, or distraction. It is found in stillness. In silence. In the moments where you allow yourself to simply be.

Another series of Strength And Grace begins this Monday, and I am so looking forward to stepping into another round together.

It has been nourishing on so many levels to be back teaching publicly again. This class has become such a beautiful anchor into the week — a place to begin strong, while still moving at an intentional pace that creates space for breath, stillness, and presence.

Each practice offers 60 minutes of mindful movement, followed by 15 minutes of savasana and meditation so you can fully land, integrate, and reset.

You’ll leave feeling empowered, grounded, and relaxed — the perfect combination to set the tone for your week ahead.

Classes are held at Metta Yoga South from 7:15-8:30PM, you can sign up for the full series and save, or join us for a drop-in class when your schedule allows.

When it comes to changing a behaviour, our minds often reach for the big shift.

The full overhaul.
The dramatic reset.
The version that asks us to become someone entirely new overnight.

But often, that approach works against us. It can feel hard on our bodies, heavy in our minds, and discouraging when we inevitably come up short. And from there, a familiar narrative can begin to form — one that feeds the belief that we are not disciplined enough, motivated enough, or capable enough.

So let this be your reminder: you are already doing so much.

There is another way to create change — one that is more nourishing, more sustainable, and far less depleting.

Whether you are trying to build a habit that supports your goals or soften a pattern that is holding you back, start small. Tiny, even.

Anchor the new behaviour to something you already do. Let it become part of a rhythm that already exists in your life. And each time you follow through, pause long enough to acknowledge yourself. Let it feel good. Let your brain and body receive the evidence that change can feel supportive, not punishing.

Because small does not mean insignificant.

The smallest act, repeated with care and consistency, can create a powerful shift
over time. And perhaps the best part is that you begin to feel good along the way. You start building a new narrative — one rooted in possibility, trust, and quiet evidence that you are capable of becoming who you are growing toward.
