Thank you to all who have supported us during Shawn’s short fight with cancer. I am sad to say Shawn Lee succumbed to his illness this morning at 12:45 surrounded by family and friends at the Cross Cancer Institute. We continue to run a go fund me at the bottom of this post as well as a bottle drive. His celebration of life is at Rundle family center on November 17th. Contact Stacy Lee for details
The CCI admitted Shawn yesterday morning after a meeting to determine his eligibility for treatment. They advised it was a 50/50 chance of success or immediate failure following Chemotherapy. Without any treatment his prognosis was 1-2 weeks.
Shawn and his wife agreed the risk was worth a possible life extension of up to a year. Chemo started by 7 pm, and within the hour Shawn was in a deep restful sleep and eventually non responsive state. We were given the options to allow him rest and peace in that dream state later that night. He passed quickly to follow at 12:45 am, without pain, fear or struggle in our arms.
We thank you for your support and any additional donations to assist in his arrangements. Thank you to Sherry Wilson for always treasuring his heart and taking care of him through all of this. And to Shawns friends and Sherry's parents, you will have my heart forever for your support. You're family.
We will be having a wake and celebration of life in the coming weeks following cremation. There will not be a viewing per Shawn's wishes, only the party.
