Short answer: yes — and it’s actually even better.

Here’s how we make winter sauna sessions work beautifully, even in cold Valley temps:

✅ Extra preheat time – Cold air pulls heat fast, so we allow more time for the sauna to fully warm the walls, benches, and stones.
✅ Proper insulation & setup – Placement matters. A well-sealed sauna holds heat efficiently, even on icy days.
✅ Consistent heat + light steam – Smaller water splashes keep the steam strong without dropping the temperature.
✅ Quick cool-downs – A short step outside between rounds is refreshing and invigorating (no long exposure needed).

If you’re already enjoying your sauna time, this is a simple way to elevate the experience even more. I’m a huge fan of incorporating dry brushing and essential oils into my sauna routine—it turns a regular sweat session into a full-body wellness ritual 🌿🔥

Here’s how to do it 👇



🌿 Essential Oils in the Sauna

Aromatherapy and heat work beautifully together.

I use an aromatherapy bowl in my sauna and add a few drops of essential oils before each session. Depending on the mood or goal, you can choose oils that feel:
• Calming and grounding
• Clearing and supportive for breathing
• Energizing and uplifting

💡 Tip: Always keep oils in a bowl or designated diffuser—never apply oils directly to sauna surfaces. Some sauna sessions can reach temperatures around 140°F (60°C), so heat safety matters.



🧴 Dry Brushing + Oils (Before the Sauna)

This is one of my favorite pre-sauna rituals.

Dry brushing is the practice of exfoliating the skin with a natural-bristle brush using gentle strokes toward the heart. When paired with essential oils, it’s a powerful way to prep the body before you sweat.

✨ Potential benefits include:
• Supporting the lymphatic system
• Increasing circulation and energy
• Helping the body move toxins more efficiently
• Exfoliating dead skin for a healthy glow
• Helping reduce the appearance of cellulite

You can add 1–2 drops of essential oil directly to your dry brush or apply to the skin before brushing. Then head straight into the sauna and let the heat do the rest 💦

Another easy way to use essential oils with a sauna is topical application before your session begins.
