As an athlete, it’s easy to focus on what’s next.

✔ Getting back on the court.
✔ Getting back to your full training schedule.
✔ Getting back to feeling like yourself again.

But recovery takes time, and progress doesn’t always happen as quickly as you want it to.

That doesn’t mean you’re not moving forward.

Sometimes you need someone in your corner to remind you of that. Someone who can help you understand what’s happening with your body, give you the tools to keep moving forward, and remind you that where you are today is not where you’ll always be.

That’s one of my favourite parts of working with athletes. I get to walk alongside you through the frustrating days, the exciting days, and everything in between.

So don’t overlook how far you’ve come just because you’re still working toward where you want to be. You’re making progress, and that’s worth celebrating.

What would you do if your body wasn’t holding you back?

✔ Go for the walk you’ve been putting off.
✔ Get back to the gym without wondering if you’ll regret it tomorrow.
✔ Step back onto the field and focus on the game instead of your knee.
✔ Take your kids to the park and actually enjoy being there.
✔ Stop sitting out because you’re worried about making things worse.
✔ Say yes to plans without wondering how your body is going to feel afterward.
✔ Take the trip. Do the things you’ve been missing.

Because when you’ve been dealing with pain or an injury for a while, it’s easy to start thinking about your body before you think about what you actually want to do.
Part of moving forward is learning to trust your body again. And getting back to the things you love means feeling confident that you know how to move through life without constantly worrying about what might hurt.

Knowing what you can do. Knowing when to push a little. Knowing when to slow down.

Because your body should support the life you want to live. 🤍

Parents ... I know how frustrating it can be.

You want your athlete to play the sport they love, but you also want to know that you’re not simply putting a temporary fix on something that keeps coming back.

Sometimes, there’s more to understand about how your athlete is moving, how their muscles and nervous system are working together, and what may have contributed to the problem in the first place.

On July 12th at The Fergus Tennis Clubhouse, Doris and Kristin will be offering Performance Care Assessments at a discount, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to support the Fergus Tennis Club's youth programs.

Our goal is to help remove financial barriers for students who might not otherwise get the opportunity to experience tennis, for example by sponsoring kids for our summer camps.

The Performance Care Assessment identifies pain or performance issues and gives youth and adults a plan to minimize injury risk and optimize performance. Receipts will be provided for benefits, and we're offering $100 off our normal price to make performance care more accessible to the community.
