I am receiving several messages and calls with people asking why I didn’t ask for help. Behind the scenes I spent the last year trying to save Simplicity ♥️
I searched for funding/grants, joined business networks, met with financial advisors, took courses, sat down with financial institutions, brain stormed marketing plans, pivoted, soul searched and faced my harsh reality. Small businesses are not going to ask for help, entrepreneurs have dreams and are passionate, they just keep going. This was a VERY difficult decision and it didn’t happen overnight. Behind every small business is a family, sometimes risking it all for a dream and losing it all is always a possibility. Yes I stood behind my counter smiling because that’s who I am. ♥️

This week I am open selling the inventory I have. Saturday is our closing out sale and next week I will be selling all furniture and appliances in my store. If you see it than it’s for sale.

It breaks my heart to inform everyone that Simplicity will be closing. 💔 I have done everything I could to stay open but I can not put myself any further into debt. The world has changed and small businesses are suffering. We were hammered during a pandemic, then we suffered through soaring costs of goods and shipping and in all honesty small businesses cannot compete with the Amazons and Costcos of the world. I completely understand that these are very tough and tight times for people, I see it, I live it and I feel it with you all. Here is the thing, without small businesses our communities will suffer. Over the last 4 years Simplicity has given back to our local communities through fundraisers, sponsorships and donations. During the pandemic I brought in local makers because I knew makers who’s livelihoods depended on markets would suffer. I brought a market to our little downtown core to give it the exposure it deserves and allow us to come together as a community to celebrate small local businesses. Simplicity wasn’t just a store, it was a family where I knew everyone’s name. You matter and you mattered to me. This store has been my life for the past 4 years and to let it go and lose everything is absolutely devastating. We will be having a closing out sale in the very near future.

I want to thank everyone who supported my store, whether you stopped by for a coffee or you shared one of my posts I want you to know how much that meant to me. Please support your small local businesses in any way you can, even the smallest amount matter to them. ♥️

Simplicity opened in 2019, we have been through a pandemic, we are currently going through recession, extreme price increases on all products, sales have dropped dramatically ( thank goodness for smoothies) and now this…..
I have spoke to representatives in the industry and everything in this video is exactly what they told me. Call, write, and ask to meet with your local MP, unfortunately it’s probably too late. There is a chance this video will be taken down but what do I have to lose at this point.

It’s a mess.

This weekend is the first Downtown Makers Market
It is held right across the street from Simplicity. Simplicity and will have some in store special happenings that you don’t want to miss!
We will have a feature $5.00 smoothie and our fridge will be packed with healthy delicious meals, we will have iced coffee and our delicious summer solstice ice tea!

Simplicity suffered a great loss yesterday. My beloved nana gained her angel wings. Please have patience as we maneuver the next few weeks as her death was sudden. There may be days that we are closed or our hours are changed. If you know me you know how much she meant to me. Thank you for your support and understanding ♥️
