Primary Care Provider NPs are regulated and independent health care providers.

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced university education who provides primary health care to patients of all ages. If you register with the Essex County Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic you will be under the care of a Nurse Practitioner and you will have to de-roster from your physician if attached. Nurse Practitioners must meet rigorous requirements and standards to enter a

nd maintain ongoing registration in Ontario. NPs assess, diagnose, treat and monitor a wide range of health problems using an evidence-based approach to their practice. NPs make it their priority to provide patient centered care with a focus on wellness and disease prevention.
