Please be advised that the fire index has changed from low to moderate therefore extra precautions should be taken when starting fires , the fire ban has been put in place by forestry ,  agriculture and lands, and all policies in place by Newfoundland Forestry has to be followed.
A permit to burn has to be obtained from your local Forestry Department this permit is free of charge .Please do not leave any fires un attended , anyone caught will be reported and fined.
Low or Moderate: Campfires are allowed (with conditions).
High: Campfires are allowed (with conditions). Permits to burn are cancelled.
Very High or Extreme : All outdoor fires are banned.

(FIRE BAN NOW IN EFFECT – LABRADOR CITY )
A VERY HIGH fire hazard is now in place for parts of western Labrador, including the Labrador City region, where a fire ban is currently active.
Across much of Newfoundland, the fire index is sitting in the MODERATE to HIGH range today. Dry conditions in some areas mean it won’t take much for fires to start and spread quickly.
⚠️ Reminder:
• Open fires may be prohibited in some areas
• Burn permits can be suspended or cancelled
• Use extreme caution with ATVs, machinery, and anything that could spark a fire
• Never leave ci******es or campfires unattended
