👀 Parent pop quiz…
Did you know Canada has official daily movement guidelines for kids ages 5–11? Most parents don’t.
The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines (developed by CSEP, ParticipACTION, and the Public Health Agency of Canada) outline exactly what a healthy day of movement should look like for children.
Here’s what they recommend:
🏃 At least 60 minutes/day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity
💪 Vigorous activity + muscle/bone-strengthening at least 3x/week
🚶 Several hours of light, active play (structured + unstructured)
🌳 A daily mix of indoor, outdoor, and varied environments
📵 Max 2 hours/day of recreational screen time
It’s a lot to fit into a busy family week.
Most kids in Canada aren’t hitting these targets. That’s why we love camp.
At Camp Move Your Mood, kids naturally check those boxes without even realizing it!
Here’s how CMYM stacks up:
✅ 60+ min of MVPA — built into every camp day
✅ Strength-based movement all week — running, jumping, climbing, throwing
✅ Hours of active play — structured and unstructured
✅ Outdoors, daily — rain or shine
✅ Screen time — zero. Every minute at CMYM is a moving, connecting, unplugged minute.
CMYM isn’t just camp. It’s a full day that meets (and exceeds) what the evidence says kids need to thrive. 💛
