🙏🏻 Sunday Wisdom

If you want a lesson in how to live, watch the creatures around you.

Every morning my dogs race to the door. The younger one insists on being first, then immediately patrols the perimeter to ensure everything is exactly as it was yesterday. The older one does a quick inspection before heading back toward the warmth of the house, confident there may be breakfast scraps waiting. Different priorities. Both fully committed to them.

When I open the chicken coop, the hens burst into the day with a fanfare of flapping wings and joy. They scratch, forage, and dust bathe as if it's their last opportunity. Behind them struts the rooster, chest puffed out, absolutely convinced he is responsible for the safety of the entire property. Every flock needs a guardian.

Then there are the bees.

Coffee in hand, I often sit beside the hive and watch the first foragers emerge. One by one they launch into the world with purpose. Their collective hum is hypnotic and calming. Interestingly, beekeepers are often noted for their longevity. Perhaps there is something healing about spending time in the presence of thousands of tiny creatures living in harmony with nature.

Above it all, the crows announce that the humans are awake and moving. The trees sway and whisper in the breeze, celebrating another sunrise.

What strikes me is that none of them are worried about next week. None are replaying yesterday. They are fully immersed in the moment they have been given.

Perhaps this is one of nature's greatest teachings.

Health and vitality are not found only in what we eat or the supplements we take.

They are also found in our ability to be present. To notice. To participate in the life unfolding around us.

The dog guarding his boundary.
The rooster protecting his flock.
The bee following its calling.
The crow sharing its news.
The tree dancing with the wind.

Maybe the vibration we are seeking has been around us all along.

Spend a little time in nature this week.
The teachers are everywhere. 🐝🌿🐓✨

Treating Root Cause!

Relief is important, but lasting change comes from addressing the root, not just the symptoms. In Chinese Medicine, the body is viewed like a living system, much like a tree. What happens at the roots affects the branches, leaves, and overall health of the whole organism.

Branch to Root Medicine care focuses on understanding why an imbalance is showing up. Pain, poor sleep, digestive issues, or hormonal changes are often signals of something deeper. By supporting the root cause - circulation, energy, nutrition, or stress regulation - the entire system can begin to rebalance.

This is where Chinese Medicine shines: thoughtful, individualized care that supports the whole body and mind, not just the place where symptoms appear.

🙏🏻 Sunday Wisdom - Who Will Lead the Day: You or Chaos?

I've come to believe that two hours quietly shape the course of our lives more than almost any other: the first hour after we wake and the last hour before we sleep.

The first hour belongs to possibility.

Before the notifications. Before the headlines. Before the demands, opinions, expectations, and noise of the world arrive on your feed and at your doorstep.

In that sacred space, you have a choice.

Will your day be led by intention or by reaction?

Pause for a moment and notice the tone of your thoughts. Not to judge them—simply to become aware of them.

Watch the sunrise. Offer gratitude for another day. Take a walk without distractions. Sip your coffee slowly. Read something that nourishes your mind. Stretch. Breathe deeply into your belly. Meditate. Pray. Listen.

The way you begin your day becomes the lens through which you experience it.

The final hour of the day is equally powerful.

It is where you choose what to carry forward and what to lay down.

Instead of handing your mind over to endless scrolling, bad news, or rehearsing every worry and regret, create a gentle landing place for your spirit.

A book. A journal. Prayer. Meditation. A quiet conversation. A moment of gratitude for what went right, even if the day felt heavy and imperfect.

Treat your mind, body, and spirit with the same care you would offer someone you deeply love.

Because what you feed in the final moments of the day follows you into sleep, into dreams, and into tomorrow.

Your nervous system notices.

Your mind notices.

Your spirit notices.

Many people spend years searching for the one thing that will transform their lives, never realizing that transformation is often built in small daily moments repeated with intention.

Protect these two windows of time.

Guard them fiercely.

The first shapes how you meet the day.

The last shapes what you bring into tomorrow.

And over time, those seemingly ordinary hours quietly create an extraordinary life.

What to expect from your first visit?

Your first appointment is unhurried and thorough. It begins with a welcoming cup of tea, and we talk about your current state of health.

We go deep… this isn’t your 10-minute western medicine appointment! I’ll ask about every aspect of your body and mind (hello, pooping routines!) and get to the root of what could be causing ‘dis-ease’ – the depletion of ease and health.

We’ll then talk about the path forward, methods we’ll use in your treatment that can support your health goals and things you can take into your daily life.

Next, we’ll get you on the table and do some initial treatment work. This will all depend on what’s right for you, and could be anything from massage and cupping, to acupuncture and moxibustion.

My patients leave feeling seen and deeply relaxed knowing that I’ve got their back (literally!) through their journey toward better health.

Sunday Wisdom 🌿

The way you speak to yourself
is not just thought…
it is medicine—or poison.

In Chinese medicine, what we repeat internally
does not stay in the mind.
It moves through the body.
It shapes the flow of Qi.
It settles into the organs.

Gentle thoughts soften the Liver.
Trust strengthens the Heart.
Safety anchors the Kidneys.
But harshness…
criticism…
the quiet “not enough”…
This creates constraint.
Stagnation.
Disconnection from your own life force.

Your inner voice becomes the environment
your body lives inside.
So the question is not just
“Is this thought true?”
But…
“Is this thought creating the reality I want to live in?”
Because over time—
your body believes what you repeat.

Your nervous system organizes around it.
Your life begins to mirror it.
This is not about forced positivity.
It is about intentional cultivation.

Speak to yourself
as you would to someone you are responsible for healing.
🌿 With patience
🌿 With honesty
🌿 With respect for the process

You are always in relationship with yourself.
Make it one that nourishes your becoming.

✨ Your words are shaping your world—
choose them like medicine.

Spring Foods - As we move out of winter, the body benefits from foods that are light, gently warming, and supportive of movement.

In Chinese Medicine, spring is a time of renewal, helping circulation, digestion, and emotional flow after the heavier months.

Think lightly cooked greens like bok choy, kale, dandelion greens, spinach, or Swiss chard. Brief steaming or sautéing makes them easier to digest while still supporting the body’s natural detox and circulation processes.

Gentle sour flavours are also supportive in spring.

Foods like lemon, lime, sauerkraut, kimchi, apple cider vinegar, and small amounts of pickled vegetables help stimulate digestion and encourage healthy movement in the body without being harsh.

Meals are best kept simple and warming, rather than raw or cold. Soups, broths, lightly cooked vegetables, congee, stir-fries, soft grains like rice or quinoa, and gently cooked eggs provide nourishment without burdening the digestive system.

Spring eating isn’t about restriction - it’s about supporting your body’s natural rhythm as it wakes up and transitions into a new season.

Sunday Wisdom 🌱

Spring is not a gentle season.
It is a force of becoming.

In Chinese medicine, this is the time of the Wood element—
the energy of growth, vision, direction.
It rises upward and outward, like sap in the trees,
like something inside you that can no longer stay contained.

If you are feeling restless…
irritated…
ready for change…
This is not imbalance—
this is movement.

The Liver energy of Spring is asking:
Where am I not growing?
Where am I holding back my truth?
Where does my life need more space to expand?

Growth can feel like tension before it feels like ease.
Like buds pressing against bark.
Like truth pressing against silence.

Your work right now is not to force clarity—
but to create flow.
Move your body.
Speak what is true.
Clear what is stagnant.
Nourish your vision.

🌿 When Qi flows, life softens.
🌿 When you honour your direction, energy returns.
🌿 When you allow growth, you become aligned with the season itself.

You are not meant to stay the same.
Spring will not let you.

For much of a woman’s life… she bleeds.

Month after month, year after year,
she gives of her Blood.

In Chinese medicine, Blood is not just physical—
it carries our Spirit, our nourishment, our capacity to feel, to dream, to connect.
And so in those years, there is a natural outward flow:
of energy, of care, of attention, of life force.

But then… something shifts.
The bleeding stops.

And what was once lost each month… is now held.
Cultivated.
Refined.
Rooted within.

This is why menopause is not a loss—
it is a gathering.

Blood becomes wisdom.
Experience becomes clarity.
Energy turns inward and strengthens the Spirit.

And with this… comes a quiet power:
✨ A deeper intuition
✨ Clearer boundaries
✨ The ability to say no—without apology
✨ A knowing that doesn’t need validation

She is no longer leaking her essence into the world—
she is living from it.

This is not the end of her value.
This is where her presence becomes undeniable.
