🤍 MEET NURSE SHELBY…. AGAIN

I figured it was time for a little reintroduction for anyone who’s new here… and maybe a few fun facts for those of you who have been around for a while 🫶🏼

I’m Shelby the owner of Bare Beauty Clinic, nurse injector, RPN, soon-to-be BScN grad, mom of 4, and the person who somehow decided that working as a nurse, raising four kids, going to school AND owning a business at the same time was a reasonable life plan 😂

I’ve been a nurse for years, with a big part of my background in emergency nursing. I eventually found my way into medical aesthetics almost 2 years ago and completely fell in love with it. What started as a passion turned into Bare Beauty, and getting to build this clinic into what it is today has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things I’ve ever done.

What I bring to Bare Beauty is a combination of nursing knowledge, safety, honesty and an obsession with natural-looking results. I’m never going to tell you that you need something just because I can sell it to you. I’d much rather explain your options, tell you when I think something isn’t a good idea, and come up with a treatment plan that actually makes sense for you.

A few things about me outside of the clinic: I’m a mom of four, lifelong Buffalo Sabres fan, usually drinking a crispy coke, probably have 47 things on my to-do list at any given moment, and I genuinely love learning. If there’s a new treatment, product or technique I’m interested in, there’s a very good chance I’ve already gone down a three-hour research rabbit hole about it, and then booked the training for it.

Bare Beauty has grown into so much more than I originally imagined, and I’m incredibly proud of the space and team we’ve created. My goal has always been for this clinic to feel welcoming, comfortable and never intimidating. Somewhere you can ask questions, get an honest answer and still feel like yourself when you leave.

So if we haven’t met yet, hi 👋🏼 I’m Shelby. And if you’ve been trusting me with your face for the last few years… thank you for continuing to let me do what I love. 🤍

Previous work not done by me. Correcting filler placed too heavily in the central pillows of the upper lip. This created a very heavy appearance and gave this client a downward smile. With the use a little amount of filler, I was able to recreate a shape that suited this gorgeous clients natural anatomy 🤍🫦

Any injector can create beautiful results… but not every injector is trained or prepared to manage a complication.

The reality is that complications can happen, even in experienced hands. While they’re uncommon, some can become time-sensitive medical emergencies that require immediate recognition and treatment to prevent permanent tissue damage or vision loss.

Before anyone injects your face, ask questions.
✔️ What training do they have?
✔️ How do they recognize a vascular occlusion?
✔️ What is their emergency protocol?
✔️ Do they have emergency medications on-site?
✔️ Do they know when and where to escalate care?

If you don’t feel confident in their answers, don’t proceed. This is your face, your vision, and your tissue.

Every injector performing hyaluronic acid filler should have emergency medications readily available, including:
• Epinephrine – for anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions)
• Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) – for mild to moderate allergic reactions (when appropriate)
• Hyaluronidase – to rapidly dissolve hyaluronic acid filler in the event of a suspected vascular occlusion

Additional items that should be part of an emergency kit include:
• Oxygen (where available)
• Blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter
• Aspirin (when clinically appropriate as part of a vascular occlusion protocol)
• A clear emergency algorithm and referral pathway to ophthalmology/emergency services

Choosing an injector isn’t just about before and after photos. It’s about knowing they have the knowledge, training, and equipment to keep you safe if the unexpected happens.

Because the best injectors don’t just know how to inject, they know how to respond when every minute matters.

Patient safety will always come before aesthetics. 🤍
