I’ve been keeping a secret…👀

I’ve been working on something new the past few weeks since opening. Now that the clinic has settled into the new space, and the books have remained full, I want to announce my newest project:

Coming soon, I will be launching the rebranding of Victoria Harris, RMT. A brand new logo, a brand new name, and even bigger projects ahead.

Keep your eyes peeled for the launch, and remember: it’s still me! Just under a new, fresh look ✨

With all the big, fresh changes in the last month, I think it’s time I reintroduce myself:

Hi! My name is Victoria Harris, and I am a registered massage therapist and certified lymphedema therapist in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I graduated in 2023 from Fredericton’s only accredited massage therapy college with honours with distinction. I later went on to continue my education in the area of lymphology, where I obtained my CDT certification through the .

In my spare time, I donate my services to organizations such as , and . Giving back to the community that has supported me all my life is one of the greatest blessings I could ever receive. I also enjoy playing sports, being outdoors, and spending time in the Miramichi with family.

My goal has always been to create a space where patients feel heard, seen, and understood. At Victoria Harris, RMT, I strive to curate an environment that exudes positivity and welcome. My assessment-based approach to care ensures we work together to find the best possible treatment plan, tailored to your goals and needs.

It is an honour and a privilege to serve in the Fredericton area, and I hope to see you in the clinic and work with you towards a better, healthier you.

With many thanks,
Victoria Harris, RMT, CLT

Today is the last day of April, which means that Cancer Awareness Month is coming to a close. But, that doesn’t mean we stop actually being aware.

It is an incredible blessing to have a career where I get to work with cancer patients first hand. You can take all the courses, read all the text books, attend all the seminars, but you will never learn the things you learn during those one-on-one conversations with patients. Your experiences are a tool that helps us as practitioners learn how we can do things differently, how to change the systems to put the focus back on the patients, and how to put the “care” in “healthcare” again. I am beyond thankful for all those shared stories.

Rather is it volunteering at the Chalmers Foundation Cancer Support Program, or seeing patients for combined decongestive therapy due to cancer treatments, I am in love with my profession, and truly believe I have the most rewarding job in all the world. Thank you all for what you have taught me, and I hope to continue to learn from you, and provide you with the highest quality of care possible.

You are seen, you are heard, and you are cared for.

Because cancer awareness is every month 🎗️

Last week, the board got a bit complex. But I promise, it’s easier to understand than it looks. 📊

What these visuals really show is the difference between acute swelling (due to injuries, recent surgery, etc.) vs chronic swelling associated with a lymphatic condition. The two factors involving swelling are:

A) Lymphatic fluid volume 🌊
B) Transport capacity 💪

Transport capacity refers to the systems ability to uptake the fluid. When the system itself if compromised, it is due to a condition (lymphedema, lipedema, etc.) The system has been damaged, maybe due to radiation therapy, obesity, tissue trauma, adverse reactions to certain drugs, and even factors like genetics can play a role.

With an intact system, acute swelling occurs because the volume of fluid in that area has increased. This is a natural part of the healing process, but recovery can certainly be accelerated by decongestive therapy.

Ever wonder why you come in with back pain, but your therapist treats the legs?

We hear it all the time: “It’s all connected”

And it is! But as a patient, it may seem confusing. That’s why it is our job to answer any questions you may have. I love it when my patients ask me, “why?”
It shows me they are curious, they care, and they want to learn more. Patients deserve to know the “why” behind what we do, so they know they are getting the proper care.

Want to find your “why”? Visit https://victoriaharrisrmt.note.com to book an appointment with me, where we go through a thorough assessment to find the real root causes of pain and discomfort, creating the best treatment plan possible.
