I showed up ready for a peaceful swim… and instead, I found my pool completely green.

And honestly, my first reaction? Frustration. That tight, “are you kidding me?” feeling.

But then I caught myself.

Because this is what adversity often looks like in real life. Not dramatic. Not life-shattering. Just… inconvenient, unexpected, and a little discouraging.

And this is also where gentle expansion begins.

Not in the moments where everything is flowing perfectly, but right here—when things don’t go to plan, and we’re invited to respond differently.

I could rush, force it, get overwhelmed trying to fix everything at once.

Or…

I can slow down. Take one step. Test the water. Add what’s needed. Trust the process.

Growth doesn’t have to be aggressive. It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing.

Sometimes it looks like choosing patience over panic.

Curiosity over control.

Gentle expansion instead of pressure.

So today, I’m cleaning a green pool… and practicing exactly that.

This morning started simple: a quiet kitchen, a warm oven, and muffins in the making.

There’s something about slow, steady actions that reminds me growth doesn’t have to be loud or rushed. It can look like showing up in small ways, staying present, and trusting the process—even when it feels ordinary.

That’s what gentle expansion means to me right now. Not pushing harder, but softening into what’s already here. Creating space. Letting things rise in their own time.

Just like these muffins.

What’s one small way you’re allowing yourself to expand gently today?

Sometimes expansion doesn’t look graceful.

Sometimes it looks like your truck being towed, plans unraveling, and a moment you didn’t choose.

But even here… there is space to soften.

Adversity has a way of stretching us quietly. It invites us to respond differently than we did before—to pause instead of react, to breathe instead of brace, to trust instead of tense.

Gentle expansion isn’t about forcing growth.

It’s about allowing life to shape you without losing your sense of calm, your steadiness, your joy.

Today didn’t go as planned.

And still, I get to choose how I meet it.

That feels like growth.

There is something about water that reminds us we don’t have to force our way forward.

At Dunbar Falls, the movement is steady, patient, and shaped over time. No rushing, no pushing—just a quiet, consistent unfolding.

This month, I’m leaning into gentle expansion. Growth that doesn’t come from pressure, but from softening. From listening. From allowing things to shift in their own time.

Maybe expansion for you right now isn’t big or bold. Maybe it looks like taking one small step, creating a little more space, or letting something be just as it is.

What would it feel like to grow without force?

As the river slows and softens, something in us is invited to do the same.

This June, I’m leaning into the theme of “Gentle Expansion.”

Not the kind that pushes or forces—but the kind that unfolds naturally when we feel safe, supported, and steady.

Like these ducks drifting along the Saint John River, there’s a quiet wisdom in allowing movement without urgency… in trusting the current without rushing the outcome.

Expansion doesn’t have to be loud.

It can look like:
• Taking one deeper breath
• Creating a little more space in your day
• Letting yourself feel just a bit more at ease

This month, we practice growing in ways that feel nourishing—not overwhelming.

What would gentle expansion look like for you right now?
