This one may hit hard.

I understand how hard it is for hard working, exhausted Family Caregivers to ask for help.
I also know how hard and hurtful it is when the people you expected to help you don't show up.

I encourage those who are meeting with resistance to requests for help to stop, let go of the hope that those people are going to show up and look outside the box.

I help my clients to work through those difficult emotions and get focussed on who else can they add to their .
I'd love to help you do this, too.

The group I have the honor of hosting, The I-CARE ❤ Community is NOT like all of the other Family Caregiver Groups out there.
Members confidentially and kindly come together and in doing so, we rise each other up.
🌼
We don't circle our problems; we work on solving them.
We don't focus on the negative but do our best to be mindful and in the moment.
We deal with the dark and the light sides of caring and supporting someone.
🌼
People come to this "drama free" community to "Nourish and Flourish" in their role as a Caregiver, knowing they don't have to do it alone.
Come be a part of something special:

I don't practice gratitude, OR encourage other Family Caregivers to, because it is trendy or the new thing to do.

This is a practice that is based on Science, and it really works.

Consistently giving thanks can improve your mental and physical health, increase your ability to empathize, reduce frustration and allow you to sleep better.

So tell me, what are you thankful for today?

Peace of Mind

Hard to achieve and harder still when you are a family member living far away from your aging parents.

I'll be on the road this afternoon, visiting people whose caring family members live out of province.

Under my appropriately named, "Peace of Mind" program, I visit their family members weekly for a home visit.
I monitor their health, their medications, coordinate services to keep them safe and supported, accompany to medical appointments and answer any questions or concerns any of the family members have.
I can also visit them if hospitalization occurs and collaborate with the staff there to facilitate a safe discharge back home.

I get to exercise my Community Health Nursing "muscle" everyday when I am working with my clients 💪.

I love supporting family members who live far away.
It makes me feel good knowing I am helping them to have some peace of mind.

Curious how this could work for you and your Fredericton family?
Let's chat.

Caregiving can be isolating, leading to feelings of loneliness for many.

Since this is Loneliness Awareness Week, I thought it would be appropriate to share this blog post from Daughterhood: https://daughterhood.org/blog/ending-loneliness-in-caregiving/
Let me know your thoughts.

Other than death of a loved one, few things are more disorienting than making the shift from being cared for by your parents to caring for them.

Family Caregivers are strong.
They are resilient and resourceful.

But even the strong need a soft place to fall.

Be in the safe company of others, going through something similar.
Join me and many more Family Caregivers in The I-CARE ❤ Community.
A FREE group I have the privilege of hosting.

You'll love it here but don't just take it from me.
This is how one long time member describes our space: " The I-CARE ❤ Community is a space for caregivers to give AND take. I give when I find something I feel strongly is worth sharing. And I ask, and receive, when I need to. All with a great deal of compassionate understanding and support"

Sounds nice, right?!

Saturday.
The day that I remind you to give yourself permission to do the most important thing that you can do, as a Family Caregiver.

To take care of yourself.
Honor and embrace the practice of caring for yourself so that you have the capacity, physically, emotionally and mentally, to support someone else.
