If you've heard that before, I want you to know something:
You are not broken. You are not imagining it. And you are not out of options.

Most of the people I work with have tried medications, physio, massage - sometimes for years. They've done everything right. The pain stuck around anyway.

Here's what most of us were never taught: pain isn't always a damage alarm. It's produced by the brain as a protective response, and sometimes, the nervous system learns to stay in protection mode long after the original injury has healed. Scans come back clear. But the alarm keeps going off.

Think of it like a smoke detector that's been set to extra sensitive. It's not broken, it's just doing its job a little too well. Going off for toast. For candles. For preheating the oven.
That's what persistent pain often is. A nervous system that has learned to be overprotective.

And here's the part that changes everything for most people:
If your nervous system learned to be extra-protective, it can also learn to feel safe again.

That's what modern pain science is about. Not "it's all in your head." Not pushing through. Not another round of treatments that address the symptom without addressing the system.

I'm putting together a free 20-minute presentation that walks through exactly this - what pain actually is, why it persists, and what you can do about it starting right now.

If you've been living with pain that doesn't make sense, this might be the missing piece.

Manual osteopathy doesn't get enough airtime, and that's a shame, because for so many people dealing with persistent pain, it can be genuinely transformative.
I'm Allison, a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner in the Boundary region. If you've been wondering whether there's something gentler than what you've tried so far, I'd love to be that next step.

As if you caused your illness by feeling too much or not being “positive” enough.
That is not what I believe.
Emotions don’t magically create conditions out of thin air. But they do quietly change the body’s “settings” over time.
Emotions are waves of information. Some signal more threat (fear, shame, anger with nowhere to go). Others signal more safety (relief, feeling understood, being with someone who “gets it”).
Your nervous system listens to those signals and adjusts things like:
Muscle tension

Heart rate and breathing

Gut activity

Inflammation

How loud pain and other signals feel

So symptoms can spike after a hard conversation, a period of “keeping it together,” or weeks of quiet worry—even when nothing new shows up on a scan.
You didn’t choose your symptoms. You’re not “too emotional.” You’re not failing at mindset.
Instead of asking, “Did I cause this with my emotions?”, you might try:
“Is there any emotional load my system might be reacting to right now?”
From there, you can offer yourself one tiny act of support (not a fix): write for 5 minutes about how you actually feel, name it out loud, text a safe person, or take 8–10 slow, longer exhales with a hand on your chest.
Your body isn’t betraying you. It’s communicating. And you’re allowed to learn that language without blaming yourself.
