Lyme disease is becoming increasingly common in Nova Scotia but many people are unaware that it may sometimes be associated with hearing loss and tinnitus.

Our latest blog explores the connection between Lyme disease and hearing health, what symptoms to watch for, and when it may be appropriate to seek an evaluation by an audiologist.

Introduction Lyme disease is becoming increasingly common in Nova Scotia. It is an infection caused by bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi, spread through the bite of infected black-legged ticks.¹ Most people know it for causing symptoms like tiredness, joint pain, and problems with the nervous sy...

🎂 3 YEARS 🎂

Today marks 3 years of Clayton Park Audiology and Hearing Aid Centre, and we truly couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our community. 💕

What started as a dream to provide compassionate, patient-centered hearing care has grown into something we are so proud of. Every appointment, every referral, every kind review, and every familiar face walking through our doors has helped shape who we are today.

To our patients, thank you for trusting us with your hearing health and allowing us to be part of your lives and journeys.

To our amazing team, thank you for your hard work, kindness, dedication, and the care you show every single day. You are the heart of this clinic, and we are so grateful for each of you.

Over the last 3 years, we’ve had the privilege of helping so many people reconnect with conversations, family moments, laughter, and the sounds they love most. That is something we never take for granted.

We are beyond excited for what the future holds and look forward to continuing to serve our Halifax and surrounding communities for many years to come. 🦻💕

Thank you for being part of our story.

Ringing, buzzing, humming, or whooshing in the ears?👂 Tinnitus can be frustrating but many people don’t realize certain everyday factors can make it worse.

While there isn’t a universal cure, there are ways to help manage tinnitus and reduce how noticeable it feels.

Have questions about tinnitus? We’re always happy to help. 💛

Today is International Noise Awareness Day, a reminder that loud environments can have lasting effects on our hearing. In fact, noise-related hearing loss is the most common workplace injury in Canada.

Hearing damage caused by noise is often described using the four “P’s”:

🎧 Progressive
🎧 Painless
🎧 Permanent
🎧 Preventable

The most important one? Preventable.

For more than 30 years, HSNS’ Industrial & Community Audiology program has helped workplaces across Nova Scotia protect employees’ hearing through practical strategies and hearing protection solutions.

If you manage a construction site, sports venue, airport tarmac, or other loud environment, support is available.
