Photos are from our physiotherapist Jon’s trip to Montreal this weekend with a group of WaterPolo Atlantic youth for a tournament. The kids had lots of fun and gained valuable experience to develop their skills further. Jon coached the 16U girls team and acted as assistant with the 16U boys.

Rotator cuff tendinopathy evidence in practice: Shoulder pain is the 3rd most common musculoskeletal complaint. The Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physiotherapy came out with guidelines in 2025 for suspected rotator cuff tendinopathies. At University Physiotherapy we use evidence based research to guide our practice. We include exercises prescription as part of all treatments. Ice Happens: Protect Yourself from Winter Slip & Falls!

Slips and falls on icy sidewalks and parking lots are one of the most common causes of winter injuries. A few simple steps can help reduce your risk:
• Wear footwear with good traction or ice grips
• Take shorter, slower steps and keep your centre of gravity over your feet
• Keep your hands free—use a backpack instead of carrying items
• Be extra cautious on shaded areas, steps, and entrances where ice may be hidden
• If possible, use handrails and well-cleared pathways

Despite best efforts, falls can still happen. If you—or someone you know—has been injured in a slip and fall, a physiotherapy assessment can help identify injuries, restore movement, and guide safe recovery. We also commonly help patients after cast removal or following surgery related to a fall, ensuring strength, mobility, and confidence are rebuilt properly.

🏒 Proud to Support Hockey Athletes On & Off the Ice 🏒

Our clinic had the opportunity to provide physiotherapy coverage and athlete care at the 2026 East Coast Ice Jam Hockey Tournament.

Physiotherapists Joel Buckler and Jon O’Neill, alongside Thomas Chaulk, Physiotherapy Student, were rink-side delivering injury assessment, treatment, and recovery support to help athletes stay healthy, safe, and performing at their best throughout the tournament.

We’re very pleased to welcome Thomas Chaulk, a second-year physiotherapy student, to the clinic for one of his clinical placements.

Thomas is a proud Newfoundlander and a former NCAA Division I hockey player, bringing a strong sports background and firsthand understanding of athletic performance, injury, and recovery.
