This Sunday, December 17th, Q***r Creatives Space will be hosting our first market. The QCS Winter Solstice Market will be attended by 17 q***r and trans vendors, and is fully q***r and trans run. This event will take place at 2482 Maynard St. Kjipuktuk/ Halifax, out of Wonder’neath’s/ Project Room, from 1:30pm-6pm.
This market will be a masked event, as our aim is to create space for COVID vulnerable + conscious folks that have faced many barriers in accessing q***r spaces that are safe for them. As such, we’ll be encouraging visitors to wear KN95, KF94, or N95 masks, which will be provided on site courtesy of Eyelevel’s/ mask bank. For folks that are unable to wear higher quality masks, we’ll also have medical grade ones available in adult and kids sizes. Very young children, infants, and folks that are unable to mask for health/ accessibility reasons will not be required to mask. There will be HEPA filters and a C02 monitor onsite to further provide protection for our COVID vulnerable + conscious pals.
With accessibility being a core focus of this market, this market is hosted in a largely accessible space, being Wonder’neath’s Project Room. It has button operated automatic entryway doors and two gender neutral washrooms. The washrooms have grab bars, sharps boxes, and menstrual products. Both are wheelchair accessible, though the handles and lightswitches are manual to operate. One of the washrooms also has a changing table for folks hoping to bring their small humans.
