Nothing makes me angrier or sadder than people calling themselves "Tattoo Artists," yet have no training or care about your health and safety.
This person was excited to announce they had spent a total of $60 on their tattoo setup. Bragging about using products that could potentially hurt or kill you.
Poor-quality tattoo machines and needles can malfunction during the tattoo process, causing unnecessary skin trauma. This often results in excessive scarring, blowouts, uneven linework, and tattoos that fade & prematurely age the skin, cause infections or an allergic reaction...
The Hidden Dangers of Temu & Ultra-Low-Cost Tattoo Products:
While ultra-cheap tattoo kits and supplies from marketplaces like Temu may look appealing, they carry serious risks that can permanently damage skin health and tattoo quality.
WHO CARES?
WE DO!!! Any professional studio or artist should always look at ingredients, materials used, quality control, and everything else that could affect you or your new ink.
Infection Risks from Contaminated Ink:
Inks sold through unverified marketplaces are often counterfeit or improperly manufactured. Even when sealed, these inks may not be sterile and can contain harmful bacteria or microorganisms, leading to severe skin infections, rashes, open lesions, and long-term complications.
Toxic Chemicals & Severe Allergic Reactions:
Independent testing has found that unregulated tattoo inks can contain high levels of heavy metals such as barium, copper, and mercury. Some pigments are allegedly manufactured for textiles or printer ink, not human skin. These substances can trigger extreme allergic reactions, scarring, and pigment rejection.
Non-Sterile or Unsafe Needles:
Needles included in low-cost tattoo kits may not meet medical sterilization standards. Using non-sterile needles significantly increases the risk of transmitting blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B and hepatitis C, as well as localized infections.
Substandard Equipment & Skin Damage:
Poor-quality tattoo machines and needles can malfunction during the tattoo process, causing unnecessary trauma to the skin. This often results in excessive scarring, blowouts, uneven linework, and tattoos that fade prematurely.
Important Safety Advice:
Regulatory agencies, including the FDA, have warned that even unopened tattoo inks can be contaminated if they are improperly manufactured or stored.
For this reason, it is strongly recommended to:
~Use tattoo supplies only from reputable, professional suppliers
~Avoid any ink or equipment not clearly verified as safe for human skin
~Your skin is permanent — the supplies you allow someone to use should meet all regulatory requirements for your health & safety.
