Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate inclusion, empowerment, and the strength of our Special Olympics community. We see every day what’s possible when people are given the chance to shine: confidence grows, friendships form, and barriers disappear.

Our athletes exemplify the power of inclusive sport.

Athletes are crushing goals and showing the world what determination really looks like! Your dedication, heart, and resilience inspire us every day.

Thank you to the athletes, volunteers, families, and partners who make this movement so strong.

Let’s continue working together to advance inclusion, and respect for all.

Today is Day! 💛

11 years ago, motionball started the campaign to inspire Canadians to embrace kindness and inclusion by removing the R-word from their vocabulary. Choosing inclusive language creates safer, kinder spaces for thousands of Canadians living with intellectual disabilities. Your voice is essential in helping spread this message of inclusion and respect across Canada.

In September, at motionball Halifax, SO athletes and their teammates stopped playing sports and talked about the use of the R-word, they all took the pledge to eliminate the R-word! Join them and show your support.

Take the pledge today - https://motionball.com/nogoodway/

Excitement filled the room today as athletes, coaches, and mission staff came together for the official Team Nova Scotia kick-off ahead of the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games Medicine Hat 2026, happening August 11–15!

The day was packed with energy as athletes set goals, discussed training plans and team expectations and most importantly, started to get to know their teammates and coaches.

The countdown is on, and the journey has begun. Nine months of hard work, teamwork and preparation until National Games! Let’s go, Team Nova Scotia! 💙💛
