Talk to Vicky, RHN "The big hurdle in most peoples’ lives to breaking the pattern of dietary choices, is familiarity. For more detailed information visit the website.

Vicky’s journey started when she noticed that certain foods were affecting her toddler’s behaviour. Through that experience, she discovered it is not trendy “diets” that bring health, but a solid foundation in nutrition which establishes a structure for lasting healthy results. Vicky is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, and owns a supplement store and clinic through which she operates her nutrit

ion practice. She works with individuals to guide them on their health journey, and teaches them how and why nutritious foods will benefit them directly. Over the years, Vicky has provided many services such as personal consultations, and hosting various talks and workshops. She is very excited about her new program “Memory Method Program”. It is for any stage of life, and she will focus on how diet can affect brain health and mobility. www.vickyhachey.com

If you get my emails. The email I sent today speaks about the benefits of weighted blankets and weighted vests. This winter I had a lot of women refer to their nervous system on overdrive.

My last email is just food for thought. If you are not on my email list.

A big part of what I do and what you see, often starts here....in my home office.

Yes. I multitask...listening to a training podcast or music while wearing my weighted vest, making notes.

No current research on weighted vest and cognition. However, great for resistance and balance.

Do you have a desk job?

I am curious, what do you do to protect your energy, metabolism and muscles during the day ?

What keeps waking you up at night
Is it hormone related

Hormones and sleep are deeply connected. And it’s not just about estrogen or progesterone.

Blood sugar may be dropping while you sleep.
You may not be getting enough protein through the day.
Stress may be driving cortisol too high.

All of these can wake the brain when it should be resting.

When the body is under stress, a cascade happens. Cortisol rises putting the body into fight or flight. Pregnenolone drops which can make you feel irritable and on edge. Progesterone declines which disrupts sleep. Estrogen dips contributing to night sweats and hot flashes. The thyroid often slows metabolism in response. The result is exhaustion, poor sleep, stubborn weight gain, and feeling frustrated with your body.

Many women tell me the same story.

It’s 2:00 AM. You’re in a deep sleep when suddenly you’re overheated and sweating. You get up to cool off, change clothes, or grab a towel. When you finally return to bed, sleep doesn’t come back. And the next day is full. Work, responsibilities, appointments. You’re running on empty again.

Tired of being tired.

Whether your sleepless nights are driven by hormones, stress, anxiety, or stimulants earlier in the day, consistency with sleep patterns matters more than ever at this stage of life.

At this point, health and wellbeing become the priority.

Waking up without aches and pains.
Waking up after a good night’s sleep feeling refreshed.
Waking up without relying on stimulants to function.
Waking up without worrying if medications were taken correctly.

So often the focus becomes fitting into old jeans, when the real work is supporting our genes and long term health.

Making lifestyle changes can feel daunting. Especially when we believe poor sleep is just part of getting older or that it’s too late to change.

It’s not.

There is a better way to support sleep, energy, and memory health. And it often starts with restoring uninterrupted, restorative sleep.

Prioritizing sleep is not indulgent.
It’s foundational.

The Silent Exodus We’re Not Talking About

Studies continue to show a staggering trend: menopause is quietly pushing talented, experienced women out of the workforce.

For many women, this stage of life brings a trifecta of pressure
👉 Careers that are accelerating and demanding more than ever
👉 Growing caregiving responsibilities at home
👉 Health transitions—like menopause—that are often misunderstood, minimized, or unmanaged

An overwhelming 95% of women experience an average of seven menopause-related symptoms, such as brain fog, fatigue, sleep disruption, and anxiety. More than half (57%) say these symptoms moderately or severely impact their work performance.

This is why taking early steps matters.

By supporting women before symptoms become overwhelming, we can help prevent being blindsided by menopause.

Early awareness and proactive care allows women to better manage day-to-day demands, caring for themselves, supporting their families, and continuing to build their careers with confidence and clarity.

This silent exodus doesn’t just affect women personally—it costs organizations deeply.

✔️ We lose leadership.
✔️ We lose institutional knowledge.
✔️ We lose wisdom, perspective, and innovation.

Here’s the encouraging part, this is preventable.

Hormonal shifts during midlife directly affect cognition, focus, memory, emotional regulation, and resilience. With open conversations, early intervention, and supportive frameworks in place, women don’t have to choose between their health and their careers.

When we prioritize our overall health early, through nutrition, lifestyle support, stress regulation, and education, women are far less likely to be blindsided by symptoms. They’re better equipped to manage their day-to-day, care for themselves and their families, and continue building their careers with clarity and confidence.

Supporting women’s health isn't “nice to have.”
It’s foundational to retention, leadership longevity, and wellbeing.

Don't be blindsided by menopausal symptoms.

You Still Have Time to Protect the Most Important Part of You”
Midlife can make you fear the worst—forgetfulness, overwhelm, losing your spark, losing your edge, losing yourself.
But you are far more in control than you think.
🧠 Brain fog, irritability, exhaustion, and digestive issues aren’t failures.
They’re reminders.
Your brain is calling you back to yourself.
✨ Small daily prevention steps make a big impact:
• Stabilize your blood sugar
• Eat for brain, bone, and hormone health
• Build strength
• Reduce emotional load
• Replace self-sabotage with self-support
Every time you choose nourishment over depletion, you protect the woman you are—and the woman you’re becoming.

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed. Shared meals, traditions, and a few indulgences are part of the joy of Christmas.
At the same time, remembering to nourish your brain helps keep energy, memory, focus, and mood steady through the festivities.

Foods like blueberries, salmon (omega-3s), olive oil, almonds, lean proteins, and green tea or matcha support cognitive health by reducing inflammation and fueling your brain cells.

✨ Enjoy the treats.
✨ Savour the celebrations.
✨ Just don’t over-indulge—balance is brain-friendly.

Your brain doesn’t need perfection this season—just a little mindful support. 💕
