EPISODE 48 | HOLDING SPACE
**“WHEN YOUR CHILD WON’T GO TO SLEEP — A NERVOUS SYSTEM PERSPECTIVE”**

🎧 The Holding Space Podcast is now available — conversations on parenting, regulation, and the deeper work of healing together. 💬🌿

Bedtime.

For some families, it’s calm and predictable.
But for many…
it’s where everything unravels.

The stalling.
The “just one more…”
The sudden burst of energy.
The tears that appear out of nowhere.

And underneath it all, the quiet question:
“Why won’t they just go to sleep?”

But bedtime isn’t just about sleep.

It’s about separation.
It’s about safety.
It’s about the nervous system trying to settle after a full day.

Attachment research teaches us that children need a secure base —
a felt sense that connection is still there, even when they let go.

So when children resist bedtime,
their body may be asking:

“Will the connection still be here when I wake up?”
“Is it safe to let go right now?”

What looks like clinginess, hyperactivity, or “one more hug”
is often a nervous system trying to regulate.

And when we meet those moments with softness instead of pressure,
something shifts.

A slower tone.
A hand on their back.
A few extra moments of connection.

Because safety helps the body settle enough to rest.

And sometimes, bedtime isn’t asking for perfect routines —
just a little more presence. 🤍

Thanks for holding space with me.

✨ **Affirmation** ✨

I do not have to earn love — I belong.

I am worthy of connection
not because of what I achieve, produce, or prove,
but because I exist.

I release the pressure to perform for acceptance.
To over-give for closeness.
To become smaller so others feel comfortable.

Belonging is not something I chase.
It is something I was always worthy of.

Today, I let myself rest
in the truth that I am already enough. 🤍

EPISODE 47 | HOLDING SPACE

**“MANAGING MORNING CHAOS — BRINGING NERVOUS SYSTEM CALM TO THE RUSH”**

🎧 The Holding Space Podcast is now available — conversations on parenting, regulation, and the deeper work of healing together. 💬🌿

If your mornings feel like a daily battle —
the rushing, repeating yourself, and somehow still ending in stress…

you’re not doing it wrong.

Mornings aren’t just about getting out the door.
They’re about transition.

And transition can feel hard on the nervous system.

What looks like stalling, meltdowns, or “selective hearing”
is often a child’s body saying:
“I don’t feel ready yet.”

When we meet those moments with pressure,
the nervous system pushes back.

But when we meet them with connection —
something softens.

Sometimes safety looks like:
✨ sitting beside them for one minute
✨ softening your tone
✨ slowing your pace just enough to help their body catch up

Because safety isn’t built after the rush —
it’s built inside it.

You don’t need a perfect morning.
Sometimes one moment of connection
can change the entire tone of the day. 🤍

Thanks for holding space with me.

✨ **Affirmation** ✨

I am worthy of care, connection, and gentleness.

I do not need to earn softness
through exhaustion, achievement, or perfection.

I am allowed to rest.
Allowed to receive support.
Allowed to be met with kindness —
especially in the moments I feel tender.

Connection is not something I have to fight for.
Care is not something I have to prove I deserve.

Today, I open myself to gentleness,
within and around me. 🤍

MEET JEN 🤍

Jen brings warmth, authenticity, and a deeply grounded presence to her work with clients. Drawing from her experiences as a mother, partner, educator, and fitness instructor, she understands the emotional weight people often carry while trying to keep up with the demands of daily life.

Her approach is relational, holistic, and person-centred — creating a compassionate space where clients can slow down, explore their inner world, and reconnect with themselves in meaningful ways.

Jen supports clients navigating anxiety, overwhelm, life transitions, burnout, relationship challenges, and self-discovery, with growing specialization in trauma-informed and attachment-based work through the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM).

She believes healing doesn’t begin with having it all figured out — it begins with feeling safe enough to pause, reflect, and gently begin.

EPISODE 46 | HOLDING SPACE
**“LISTENING BENEATH THE BEHAVIOUR”**

🎧 The Holding Space Podcast is now available — conversations on parenting, regulation, and the deeper work of healing together. 💬🌿

As we close this nine-part series,
I want to bring us back to the heart of everything we’ve explored:

Behaviour is never random.
It is memory in motion.

Bessel van der Kolk reminds us that the body keeps the score.

And children especially don’t store their experiences in words —
they store them in patterns.

In shutdowns and outbursts.
In clinginess and avoidance.
In rivalry and withdrawal.
In all the behaviours we’ve spent this series decoding.

Every behaviour holds a story:

A need.
A fear.
A rupture.
A longing.
A moment of overwhelm the body hasn’t yet integrated.

And when we look beneath the behaviour,
we begin to hear what the nervous system is trying to say:

“I’m overwhelmed.”
“I’m scared.”
“I need you close.”
“I don’t know how to say what I’m feeling.”

Listening beneath behaviour
turns conflict into connection,
reactivity into understanding,
and chaos into clarity.

Because beneath every behaviour
is a nervous system asking to be understood. 🤍

Thanks for holding space with me.

✨ **Affirmation** ✨

I am safe to be myself here.

I do not need to shrink,
perform,
or hide parts of who I am to belong.

My thoughts, my feelings, my voice, and my needs
are worthy of space.

Safety grows when I allow myself
to show up honestly, gently, and fully.

Today, I let myself be seen
with compassion instead of fear. 🤍

EPISODE 45 | HOLDING SPACE
**“WHEN A CHILD FREEZES — WHAT SHUTDOWN IS REALLY SAYING”**

🎧 The Holding Space Podcast is now available — conversations on parenting, regulation, and the deeper work of healing together. 💬🌿

You know those moments when a child suddenly goes still?

The blank stare.
The silence.
The “I don’t know.”
The hiding.
The tiny body that seems to disappear in the middle of overwhelm.

It can look like stubbornness.
Avoidance.
Or a child who “won’t talk.”

But Peter Levine teaches us something important:

Freeze is not refusal.
Freeze is not disobedience.
Freeze is a stalled stress response waiting for safety.

In collapse, the body isn’t choosing to disengage.
It simply can’t move, speak, or problem-solve yet.

The nervous system is protecting the child
until safe connection arrives.

And often, children complete stress cycles
not through explanation —
but through play, movement, gesture, and attuned presence.

Freeze softens when the body feels safe enough to thaw. 🤍

Thanks for holding space with me.

✨ Affirmation ✨
My body is full of energy and strength.
I listen to its rhythm.
I honour its signals.
I trust the wisdom it carries.
Strength isn’t just power —
it’s resilience,
it’s recovery,
it’s the quiet way my body continues to support me every day.
Energy flows when I care for myself
with intention, nourishment, and rest.
Today, I move with strength,
and I receive the energy already within me. 🤍
