Emergence 🌻

🌱 Week 1 — Gentle Awakening

Not everything needs to bloom all at once.

This first class is about slowing down, tuning in…and noticing what’s already beginning to grow beneath the surface.

We’ll move gently through grounding shapes, active breathwork, and simple, supportive flows — creating just enough space for something new to emerge.

No pressure.
No pushing.

Just awareness… and a little bit of room to grow.

Join us at 6:30 this evening.

🌱 Emergence — Gentle Expansion
A 7-week yoga series designed to meet you exactly where you are… and gently invite you forward.

Wednesdays 6:30–8PM
May 6 – June 17
Cordova Community Centre

Growth doesn’t have to be forced.
In fact, the kind that lasts, usually isn’t.

This series is about allowing — softening into the process, creating space, and letting your body open in its own time.

✨ What to expect:
• Slow, grounding beginnings to rebuild trust in your body
• Gentle side body + heart opening (supported, never pushed)
• Simple, repeatable flows that evolve with you
• Space to explore—not perform
• A practice that gradually becomes yours

We’ll move through a natural arc together:
🌿Gentle Emergence (Weeks 1–2) — reconnect, soften, make space
🌿Explore + Expand (Weeks 3–5) — build curiosity and confidence
🌿Integrate + Embody (Weeks 6–7) — trust what’s unfolding

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about noticing where you’re trying to force…and what happens when you don’t.

If you’re looking for a practice that feels supportive, intentional, and quietly powerful—this is it.

💫 7 Weeks: $125
💫 Drop-ins: $22

Root to Rise – Week 1 🌱

This week we begin with Rooted Presence — a return to the essentials.

In this 90-minute practice we’ll reconnect with the breath, rebuild awareness in the body, and gently reawaken strength from the ground up.
When attention becomes steady, strength naturally follows.

As we move through this first class together, we’ll also acknowledge the Spring Equinox — a moment of balance between light and dark, and a reminder that growth begins with strong roots.

The ground comes first. From there… we rise.

🌿 Class Update from Ananda Yoga 🌿

After a long winter of teaching and sharing the mat with all of you, I’m taking a little time to rest and turn my attention inward.

To honor this pause and ensure I can continue to serve our community at my best, the following chair yoga classes will be canceled:

🪑 Sama Park – Tuesday, March 17
🪑 Stone Hall – Thursday, March 19

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Rest, reflection, and self-care are essential for all of us— yogis and teachers alike!

I look forward to reconnecting with you on the mat soon. 💜

Root to Rise

From Intentional Rest to Laying the Foundation for Spring Growth

Over the winter, we returned to what was essential by mindfully and intentionally exploring rest.
We slowed down. We steadied. We gathered strength beneath the surface.

Now, early spring invites something new — not a sudden burst forward, but a gradual rise.

Root to Rise is a six-week progression designed to carry the steadiness we cultivated in
Deep Winter – Returning to What’s Essential into gentle expansion.
The roots are already there.
This session is about nourishing them so they're able
to support the upward growth of late spring.

Expect thoughtful sequencing that honors the nervous system while gradually increasing energy and fluidity. We’ll begin each class grounded and connected, then slowly layer in:

🧍‍♀️More standing work to build functional strength.

👣Smooth transitions that encourage coordination and confidence

⚖️Balance postures to sharpen focus

💚Gentle heart-openers and subtle backbends

🧘‍♀️Guided meditation and deeply supported Savasana

This is not a power class.
It’s intentional progression.
Strength without strain.
Movement without rushing.

You’ll be invited to notice what feels ready — physically, mentally, and energetically.
Not forced growth, but supported, nourished emergence.

As we move through early spring, we're laying the foundation for late spring’s fuller expansion.
What we stabilize now will support what blooms later.🌼

Whether you’ve practiced through the winter session or are returning after time away, you’ll be met with clear options, accessible variations, and mindful guidance.

Join us to intentionally nourish the roots of all that you’re ready to grow this year.

Healing doesn’t start in the muscles.
It starts in the mind.
Before the body softens…
Before the breath deepens…
Before anything changes physically —
the brain goes first.

Yoga isn’t just stretching. It’s nervous system training.

Every slow breath tells the brain, “We’re safe.”

Every mindful movement rewires old patterns of tension, stress, and fear.

Every compassionate thought creates a new pathway toward healing.

Science backs this up:
🧠 The brain can rewire itself
🌿 The nervous system can learn calm
💭 Thoughts influence hormones, inflammation, and pain

When we practice yoga, we’re not forcing the body to heal — we’re teaching the brain a new story, and the body follows.
Change the thought.
Change the signal.
Change the experience.
This is where healing really begins. 💫

🌞Good morning everyone!🌞

I hope you've all been having a wonderful day so far.

I just wanted to quickly share something that really stuck with me after Tuesdays Chair Yoga class at Sama Park.

One of our amazing Sama Park Warriors mentioned that before coming to class last week, his blood sugar was at 7.9.
Out of curiosity, when he got home after yoga, he checked it again — and it was 5.4.
Same day. Same body.
Before practice. After practice.

This mindful observation, paired with the students willingness to openly share his small win, is a great reminder for all of us about how much of what yoga does for us is happening quietly, often unnoticed behind the scenes.

We tend to notice the obvious things first — maybe our hips feel a little looser, our shoulders aren’t as tense, or we’re standing just a little bit taller.

But some of the most meaningful benefits of a regular practice aren’t visible at all.

Yoga supports the nervous system, circulation, breath, the stress response. It helps the body shift out of “fight or flight” and into a state where healing and regulation can actually happen.

And sometimes that shows up in ways we don’t expect — like steadier energy, better sleep, improved digestion… or, in this students case, lowered numbers on a blood glucose monitor.

This is just one example of how yoga gently supports us — calming the nervous system, improving circulation, and helping regulate vital health markers —often in ways we can’t see.

I share this not as a promise or a claim, but as a reminder that even on days when the movements feel small, or you wonder if it’s “enough"...know that your body is listening.
Something is always happening.
Subtle doesn’t mean insignificant.

Keep practicing, keep breathing deeply — your body is doing amazing things, even if you don’t notice right away.

Thank you for showing up.
For trusting the process, and for giving your body the chance to do what it knows how to do best — find balance, in its own quiet way.

Please feel free to share in the comments any benefits you've noticed from your practice...let's all cheer each other on for our small (or not so small) wins!💜

Grateful to be sharing this journey with each of you.🙏

Love....always.

Amanda
