Do you see a field full of weeds, or do you see a field full of wishes, colour, and life?

How many of us spend time pulling dandelions up, trying to remove them, seeing them as something that shouldn't be there. Yet they are often one of the first flowers to appear in spring, bringing colour after a long winter.

For me, dandelions are a reminder of resilience, hope, and transformation. They grow where they are planted sometimes in the darkest of places bringing colour and life where they are needed most, and reminding us that beauty and value can often be found in places we might otherwise overlook.

It's a reminded that the things we are quick to judge, remove, or wish away can hold value that we have not taken the time to notice. Perhaps it is not about what we are looking at, but the lens through which we choose to see it.

I choose to see a field full of wishes, colour, and possibility.

At Alexandra Dunn Wellness I offer counselling and coaching in many different spaces, because I recognize that we are all unique and not every space feels right for every person.

For some people, sitting in a traditional counselling room can feel hard, uncomfortable, or simply not the right fit, and that is okay.

One of the spaces I offer is out in nature and alongside the herd, where there is space to breathe, slow down, walk, pause, and simply be. Horses have a gentle way of meeting us without judgement or expectation, and nature can help the nervous system soften in ways words sometimes cannot.

Come and experience the power of the horse and human connection. I am located just outside High River, or if you have horses and are local I can come to you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I love this time of year, there is something about spring that feels so quietly hopeful. The trees that were bare are now beginning to soften with tiny buds, the grass turning greener, the birds louder in the mornings, and little signs of life appearing again everywhere we look.

Nature never rushes, unfolding in its own time.

Perhaps spring is a gentle reminder that growth can begin quietly and blossom into something beautiful.

At Alexandra Dunn Wellness I offer a gentle, grounded space where you are met with compassion, curiosity, and without judgment.

Through trauma informed integrative counselling, reflexology, coaching, walk and talk sessions, and time with the herd, I support people in slowing down, reconnecting with themselves, and finding a way forward that feels supportive and meaningful for them.

Sometimes we simply need a space where we can exhale, feel heard, and not have to carry everything alone.

Please feel free to connect with me to find out more, or to schedule a session.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but for me this has never just been about “mental health” alone, because what we carry is not only held in the mind. It is held in the body, the nervous system, our experiences, our relationships, and often in the parts of ourselves that have simply been trying to cope, survive, and keep going.

Awareness is important, but so is compassion. Compassion for the overwhelm, the exhaustion, the numbness, the anxiety, the grief, the masking, and the moments where simply getting through the day has taken more energy than anyone else may realise.

This month is a gentle reminder that our responses often make sense when we begin to understand what has happened beneath them, and with that understanding can come safety, connection, understanding, and space to soften.

Please be gentle with yourself this month and every month, your mind, your body, and your nervous system have been carrying more than words can often explain, and please reach out to someone if you are struggling.

Mother’s Day can bring so many emotions for so many people, from joy, love and laughter, to grief and sadness. Whether you are a mother, a mother figure, hoping to become a mother, missing your mother, or grieving someone you love, this day can hold many different feelings all at once.

So today, please take the time to be who you need to be, without pressure or expectation, and hold yourself with the same love, gentleness, and compassion that you so often give to others.

There is something incredibly powerful about women coming together, not in competition, but in connection, support, understanding, and encouragement.

I left this event feeling genuinely grateful and privileged to have been invited to speak amongst such incredible women, each bringing their own stories, wisdom, strength, and presence into the room.

What stood out most was not only the conversations, but the way women held space for one another, listened, supported, uplifted, and reminded each other that we do not have to carry everything alone.

There is real genuine power in connection, real healing in being seen, and something deeply meaningful about women supporting women.

Thank you Candisse for organizing these empowering events

Those to do lists!!!
I have heard so many friends, colleagues, and professionals recently talking about their endless “to do” lists, and honestly, I have one myself.

But it really got me thinking about how rarely many of us actually pause when we complete something, even something small, and allow ourselves to feel that moment of satisfaction, relief, or achievement before immediately moving onto the next thing waiting for us.

So often we tick something off, only to instantly fill the gap with another task, another responsibility, another expectation, barely acknowledging everything we are already carrying and managing each day.

Lately I have been consciously trying to shift my attention towards what I have achieved, rather than constantly focusing on what is still unfinished, because the reality is there will probably always be a “to do” list in life.

But perhaps it does not always have to keep getting longer. Perhaps sometimes there is value in taking things off the list instead, softening expectations a little, making things feel more manageable and attainable, so there is actually space left to enjoy moments, to feel present, and to simply be.

Notice where your energy goes

What a wonderful experience it was meeting Robert Korotyszyn from The Western Wheel.

I had the opportunity to spend time sharing a little of the work that I do, and something about that felt both grounding and quietly meaningful. I am deeply passionate about this work, and it was such a pleasure to be able to speak about it in a way that felt seen and understood.

Whether I am in my counselling space, offering reflexology, or out with the herd, each part of what I do carries its own depth, its own presence, and its own way of meeting people exactly where they are.

At the heart of what I do are the horses, and the power of the horse–human connection. There is something about being alongside the herd that invites a different kind of awareness, one that gently moves beyond words, where people can begin to notice, feel, and connect in ways that often surprise them. It is quiet, honest work, and I feel incredibly honoured to hold space for that.

Alongside this, my counselling and reflexology practice here in High River continues to support and deepen this work. Each session, whether in the office, on a walk, or through hands-on work, is shaped by a trauma-informed lens, where safety, choice, and connection are always held with care.

To be able to share all of this with Robert, and to have him take the time to listen, to understand, and to recognise the depth of this work, truly meant a lot. It’s not something I take lightly, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have it reflected and shared in this way.
