Now Hiring: Health Promoter (Public Health)
Maskwacis Health Services – Maskwacis, AB
Maskwacis Health Services is accepting applications for one Temporary Full-Time Health Promoter position within the Community Health Promotion / CHR / PCHW department.
Position Term end date: December 31, 2027
Job Type: 1.0 FTE
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7-hour shifts
Work Location: In person
Salary: Based on experience and qualifications
The successful candidate will support health promotion, injury prevention, client and community advocacy, cultural liaison work, and environmental health programming within Maskwacis.
Qualifications
• Knowledge of the four nations community as well as Pigeon Lake.
• Ability to plan, develop and facilitate health education workshops/sessions for individuals, families and
communities (children, teens, women and men, elders)
• Design culturally appropriate teaching materials.
• Communication skills and ability to facilitate health education workshops.
• Ability to work with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Punctual & reliable.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand maps, directions, daily assignment schedules and instructions.
• Ability to maintain vehicles in safe operating condition, and ability to make minor repairs, check & add
fluids & report any necessary repairs to manager.
• Ability to meet schedules and deadlines and provide reports and logs when required.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Able to Supervise.
Other Requirements
• Possess valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and own or access to a vehicle.
• Ability to work as a team/independently
• Ability to initiate program activities with minimal supervision
• First aide and CPR.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and Power Point.
• Knowledge of the four nations community an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Certificate in Health Promotion preferred.
• Driver’s abstract.
• Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required.
• Willing to work flexible schedule.
• Must provide and possess a clear criminal record vulnerable sector check.
• Child Intervention Clearance (CWIS).
• Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language would be beneficial
