If you didn't know yet, internally threaded & threadless jewelries have become the new standard throughout the years. But why?
Because internally threaded and threadless aren't abrasive. As much as you can heal a piercing with an externally threaded jewelry, it still comes with its risks. External threads, when inserting or removing the jewelry, rubs against the skin tissues and can cause an abrasion which can lead to micro-fissuring of the skin. Even if your piercing is fully healed and the scaring is complete, it can get irritating for your piercing to always be under that kind of stress every time you change your jewelries.
When the piercing occurs, an externally threaded jewelry not only adds stress to your fresh wound, it adds the possibility of losing the needle/jewelry transfert. Lose of transfert can cause a lot more stress on the body, the client, the piercer and create a whole mess where as internal threads and threadless are transfered with a "taper" tool that is inserted within the needle to replace it and provide a safer transfert. The jewelry threads onto that taper tool which provides a seamless insertion of the jewelry, excluding the chances of micro-abrasion of the tissues.
This is also why you should go to a professional for any jewelry changes that implies internal thread & threadless jewelries, because we are equipped with the proper tools for it & we'll do it safely with your piercing's health in mind.
