Friendship is an integral part of foraging for me. Connecting with the plants is vital but through this foraging business I have truly cultivated and grown so many friendships. The need for large stands of plants to fullfill the needs of the business are constant. I need large plant communities because I only ever take a small portion of any patch. Time and time again reaching out to human friends to connect me with foraging spots on their lands keeps the business going. These connections become annual visits. Friends meet up to help me pick. Students and helpful neighbors become friends. The plants are so giving and abundant and so is the human community who has grown around this little venture called Wild Muskoka. Thank you to & for the beautiful nettle spot (sad I didn't take more photos of us all together!) Thank you to everyone who has shared their lands or their time to help me pick and process beautiful foraged plants. Thank you to the every giving green world 💚

Happy kick off to summer Muskoka! I had the privilege of catching Marsh's Falls at sunset. So blessed to live in this gorgeous place and have this magic spot minutes from home. Visit Marsh's Falls if you get a chance this weekend!

Spring foraging season has officially begun! Although our work is year round, the Wild Leek (Ramp) harvest always feels like the new year for Wild Muskoka. It also represents Amanda's fourth year with me at Wild Muskoka! I'm so grateful for these plants and this human who give so much and are just wonderful to be around 🌱

This is the last week to apply for the Wild Medicine work trade program! We are accepting several spots for full or partial work trade. Work activities vary from helping on the land in the gardens, with firewood, foraging, outdoor classroom setup to work in our Wild Muskoka kitchen processing plants, making milkweed pickles, labeling and bottling and more! We program makes our classes financially accessible and expands your learning opportunities while helping support the very labor intensive parts of our small, sustainable business.
