Enjoy the shorter days. They help balance the body.
--> --> --> --> -->
In the Northern hemisphere, we are steadily marching towards the shortest day of the year. We seek warmth, rest and comfort and this is not laziness, it's physics.
Winter helps us reorganize light, water and energy within the body.
Shorter days push us towards longer sleep and an opportunity to harvest melatonin, that master antioxidant that helps repair and rejuvenate the body from the cellular level. Embrace it.
The extra time we get to sleep boosts our melatonin which in turn helps maintain our vitamin D levels. In a beautiful seasonal dance where summer light builds vitamin D and winter darkness maintains it.
The cold of winter days increases brown fat activation to boost internal heat and metabolism while encouraging production of new mitochondria for more energy. Dance with it.
The warmth we seek with an extra layer of clothing, a snuggle or a cozy blanket brings in infrared energy that can boost mitochondrial function and help build that liquid crystal water within for more cellular energy. Soak in it.
We're drawn toward the glow of candlelight and sitting fireside because it can calm the nervous system and expose us to red/infrared light to supports mitochondrial health and energy. Bask in it.
Seeking comfort in a soft blanket, fuzzy socks or a warm sweater helps regulate our nervous system. Wrap yourself up in it.
The light, the rest, the warmth, the comfort we seek in winter is medicine. Connect to it.
