EXCITING NEWS! 🎉

I’ve had many clients ask over the years if I accept credit cards, and I’m excited to share that the answer is now YES!

To make things even more convenient, I now accept:

Credit Cards
E-Transfer
Cash
Cheques (yes, the old paper kind too!)

Whether you’re booking care for yourself, a parent, grandparent, or another loved one, I want the payment process to be as simple and stress-free as possible.

Services include:
Advanced Mobile Foot Care
Mobile Nursing Services
Postpartum Support
Fertility Injection Support
Health Navigation & Caregiver Support

As always, receipts are provided and may be submitted to your extended health benefits plan if eligible.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. Small improvements like this help me continue providing professional, compassionate care while making the experience a little easier for the wonderful clients and families I serve.

And yes… I’ll still happily accept those paper cheques that some of my clients have been carrying around longer than I’ve been a nurse. 😉

Most people focus on what they eat, but research suggests that the order you eat your food can also affect blood sugar levels.

Try this simple strategy:

🥗 Eat vegetables first
🍗 Protein second
🍞 Carbohydrates last

For example:

Instead of eating your potato first, try:

1️⃣ Salad or vegetables
2️⃣ Chicken, fish, eggs, or other protein
3️⃣ Potato, rice, pasta, bread, or dessert

Why?

Vegetables and protein can help slow the absorption of carbohydrates, which may reduce blood sugar spikes after meals.

Another simple trick:

Take a 10–15 minute walk after eating.

Your muscles use glucose for energy, which can help lower post-meal blood sugar levels. You don’t need a gym membership or a strenuous workout…a walk around the block counts!

Did you know?

Many people with diabetes focus heavily on avoiding sugar, but foods like bread, rice, pasta, cereal, crackers, and potatoes can often have a larger impact on blood sugar than people realize because they are broken down into glucose during digestion.

The goal isn’t perfection. Small habits repeated consistently often have a bigger impact than drastic changes that are difficult to maintain.

As a foot care nurse, I see firsthand how managing blood sugars can help protect the feet, improve healing, and reduce the risk of complications over time.

What’s one diabetes tip that has worked well for you?

Yesterday, I accompanied one of my long-time clients to an important medical appointment.

I’ve had the privilege of caring for her since the early days of my business, and she asked if I could attend the appointment with her to help keep track of the information, ask questions if needed, and make sure nothing important was missed.

As many of us have experienced, medical appointments can be overwhelming. There is often a lot of information shared in a short period of time, and it can be difficult to remember everything once you leave.

After the appointment, we sat down together and reviewed everything. I helped organize her follow-up care, assisted with booking appointments in the area where she lives rather than near her physician’s office, and provided her with a printed summary outlining what was discussed, important things to remember, and the next steps in her care.

The best part was seeing the relief on her face. She left feeling informed, organized, and confident. She understood what had happened during the appointment, knew what needed to be done next, and had everything written down in one place.

Sometimes having someone in your corner makes all the difference.

Many people don’t realize that support like this is available. Whether you’re attending a specialist appointment, navigating a new diagnosis, supporting an aging parent, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the healthcare system, having a nurse there to help you process and organize information can provide tremendous peace of mind.

(For those wondering, I meet clients directly at their appointments. I can assist with coordinating transportation if needed, but I do not provide transportation.)

❤️ This is one of those days that reminds me why I became a nurse.

Pulled over because I was way too early for my next appointment and couldn’t help but appreciate what a beautiful day it is.

Spring has finally arrived, and after a long winter, I’m here for it.

Today I’m making visits in Thornton and around Innisfil, enjoying the sunshine between appointments and feeling grateful for the wonderful community I get to serve.

If you see me out and about, feel free to say hello. I’d love to meet you.

Many people living with diabetes can develop cuts, blisters, or wounds on their feet without realizing it due to reduced sensation from diabetic neuropathy or decreased circulation.

Left untreated, even a small wound can become infected and may lead to serious complications.

That’s why daily foot inspections are so important.

👣 Check the tops, bottoms, and between the toes every day.
👣 Watch for redness, swelling, cracks, blisters, or open areas.
👣 Seek professional assessment if you notice any concerns.

Caregivers play an important role too. Regular foot checks can help identify problems early, before they become more serious.

More than a gift.

These Nurse Curated Care Kits started as something very personal. I originally created them for some of the important people in my own life, wanting to give thoughtful gifts that offered comfort, encouragement, and practical self-care.

As I shared them, others began asking if they could purchase them too, so I decided to make them available.

Each kit is thoughtfully assembled using a nurse’s perspective and includes carefully selected, evidence-informed items designed to support comfort, wellness, rest, and self-care.

Whether you’re thanking a teacher, supporting a caregiver, celebrating a new mom, or simply letting someone know you’re thinking about them, these kits are created with intention and rooted in the same principles that guide my nursing practice: compassion, education, and evidence-informed care.

Because sometimes the most meaningful gifts are the ones that help people slow down, recharge, and feel cared for.

Thoughtfully assembled by a nurse.
Created to support real life, real people, and real moments.

Evidence informed care matters more than most people realize 🩺

Some healthcare practices that were once considered “good medicine” are now viewed as dangerous, harmful, or deeply unethical.

There was a time when:
• doctors performed surgery without proper handwashing
• smoking was promoted during pregnancy
• infants were operated on with little or no pain control because people believed babies “didn’t fully feel pain”
• lobotomies were considered acceptable mental health treatment
• mercury was used medicinally
• women’s pain and symptoms were often dismissed as “hysteria”
• stomach ulcers were blamed entirely on stress before research proved bacteria played a major role

Healthcare evolves because evidence evolves.

Evidence informed care means we don’t provide care simply based on tradition, habit, or “the way it’s always been done.” We use current research, patient outcomes, safety data, and clinical expertise to guide care decisions.

One of the most important parts of healthcare is being willing to keep learning, adapting, and improving.

Good healthcare evolves for a reason 🤍
