Listen without judgement.

On World Mental Health Day, we recognise that lived experience matters. People deserve a say in the support and decisions that affect their lives.

For neurodivergent people, families and caregivers, inclusion starts with respect, choice and connection.

Ask me. Include me.

Support means including people in decisions about their own lives.

Ask what matters, allow time to respond and respect communication through speech, writing, gestures or devices. Let the person guide the conversation.

What helps you feel included when decisions are being made?

One step. Your pace.

During ADHD Awareness Month, support can begin with a simple question: “What would make this easier?”

A smaller first step, a written reminder or time to pause may help. Let the person guide what works for them.

Today, on World Cerebral Palsy Day, we recognize people with cerebral palsy as whole people with their own strengths, voices, goals and ways of moving through the world.

Inclusion means listening directly, removing barriers and making room for meaningful participation in schools, workplaces and community life.

What is one change that would make participation easier in your community?

A teacher who sees a child’s strengths can change how that child sees themselves.

Today, we thank educators who welcome different ways of learning, create belonging and help neurodivergent and disabled learners grow with confidence.

Consider sending a personal thank-you to an educator who made a meaningful difference.

Sometimes the next step becomes easier when it is easier to see.

Transitions can bring uncertainty: stopping one activity, beginning another, changing locations or shifting attention. A little preparation can reduce pressure and support participation without shame.

Four gentle supports may help:

🧡Preview: explain what is happening now and what comes next.
🧡Prepare: make needed items, choices or instructions visible.
🧡Transition: offer a clear cue and reasonable time to shift.
🧡Reset: leave room for movement, quiet or reconnection.

The goal is not rigid compliance. It is to make the pathway clearer while respecting the person’s communication, pace, dignity and choice. Transition notice, structure and planned breaks are consistent with CHADD’s educational guidance.

At Arise Like A Star Foundation, we believe support should help people participate, belong and move toward their goals with hope and purpose.

What is one transition support that helps your family, classroom, workplace or community activity run more smoothly?

Before you label the behaviour, look for the barrier.

What appears to be refusal, inattention or lack of effort may sometimes reflect overwhelm, unclear instructions, competing input, difficulty getting started or a need for movement and regulation.

During ADHD Awareness Month, we can replace quick judgment with a more supportive question:

“What might be making this hard right now?”

Support can begin with four simple ideas:

🧡Clarity - make the first step visible.
🧡Choice - offer two manageable ways to begin.
🧡Movement - allow a safe reset without shame.
🧡 Connection - respond with curiosity before correction.

Every person is different. The most respectful approach is to ask what helps, listen to the answer and build support with the person not simply around them.

At Arise Like A Star Foundation, we believe understanding creates space for hope, inclusion, participation and purpose.

What is one supportive question that has helped replace judgment with understanding in your family, school, workplace or community?

Support the task, not the stigma.

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and the 2026 international campaign emphasizes “A Community of Support.”

ADHD is not a character flaw, a lack of caring or a refusal to try. A person may need different kinds of support to begin a task, organize information, shift attention, manage competing input or return to something after being interrupted.

Practical support can include:

🧡Making the first step visible
🧡Reducing competing noise where possible
🧡Offering movement and reset time
🧡Using clear reminders without shame

Support should never be one-size-fits-all. Begin with the person: ask what helps, respect how they communicate and adjust the environment without removing dignity, choice or independence.

At Arise Like A Star Foundation, we believe greater understanding can create stronger connections and more meaningful opportunities for neurodivergent children and adults, families and caregivers.

What is one respectful support that makes a task clearer or more manageable for you or someone you support?

Every child has always deserved safety, family, culture, language, dignity and belonging.

Today, Arise Like A Star Foundation honours Survivors, remembers the children who never returned home, and stands with the families and communities carrying the ongoing impacts of residential schools.

The supporting hand in our visual represents care, remembrance and our shared responsibility to protect the dignity and future of every child.

May remembrance lead us toward learning, accountability, compassion and action.

Every Child Matters.

Celebrating Fathers, Grandfathers, and Father Figures

Rise Like A Star Neurodiversity Families

👔💙 Happy Father’s Day!

Today we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, guardians, and father figures who show up every day with love, strength, and dedication.

To the fathers of neurodivergent children…

To the fathers navigating medical journeys…

To the fathers attending appointments, advocating in schools, learning new skills, and standing strong during difficult moments…

💙 We see you.

Fatherhood is often quiet.

It is:

✨ Early mornings and late nights
✨ Protecting and providing
✨ Learning and growing alongside your children
✨ Being strong when things feel uncertain
✨ Celebrating every milestone, no matter how small

For many fathers, love is shown through action.

💙 The appointment they never miss.

💙 The therapy session they attend.

💙 The bedtime story they read.

💙 The hand they hold during difficult moments.

💙 The encouragement they give when a child needs it most.

As fathers, we may not always have all the answers.

But we continue showing up.

We continue advocating.

We continue loving.

And that makes all the difference.

To every father:

Thank you for your sacrifices.

Thank you for your strength.

Thank you for your love.

Thank you for helping children believe they can reach the stars.

🌟 Rise Like A Star honouring the fathers who help families rise every day.
