I know that most of my page is filled with training content but what you might not know about me, is that I’m a Certified Athletic Therapist.

And this month is National Athletic Therapy Month.

Athletic Therapists are a vital part of the healthcare team for athletes.

We’re more than the people taping ankles, filling water bottles, changing skate blades, or running onto the field when someone gets hurt.

We are the professionals who monitor an athlete’s health throughout the season, guide their recovery through injury, advocate for their safety, collaborate with other healthcare providers, and are often the first person at their side when an emergency happens.

But beyond the injuries and emergencies, we are also trusted confidants. We celebrate the wins, help navigate the losses, support athletes through difficult moments, and build relationships that often last far beyond a single season.

One of the most rewarding parts of being an Athletic Therapist is having the opportunity to walk alongside an athlete through every stage of their recovery. From the moment an injury happens to the day they get back to the game, we get a front-row seat to their resilience, growth, and determination.

I am incredibly grateful for the Athletic Therapists who have mentored, supported, and inspired me throughout my career. And I am equally grateful to every athlete who has trusted me with their health, their recovery, and their journey.

Thank you for allowing us to do what we love.

Now make sure you go tell your AT how much you appreciate them because we sure as heck appreciate you.

Eventually these days become few and far between.
They’re not gone forever because I’m human and not meant to be perfect.

But here’s what I’ve done over the last few years to keep them manageable

- I go and do something that makes me feel good. For me it’s a good leg day, or being around people that make me feel like myself.
- I try new things, I get uncomfortable in different ways. Hell, I started rugby at 28/29 years old. I got out of my comfort zone and tried a couple dance classes.
- I think about the hard times that I have made it through to the other side and practice gratitude for all my body has carried me through.

And If I’m feeling spicy and need something to blame, I blame covid and society for making me feel this way 😅

If you’re struggling with body image days, my messages are always open to talk & listen.🫶

I said what I said, and I’ll say it again.

This is not a pity party.
This is me trying to be transparent that even coaches go through these moments & have these feelings too.

But after I went and did a lower body workout for the first time since before my surgery and I felt 10x better after doing something that makes me feel good.

Happy Friday 🫶

The 5 week post op update that nobody asked for

Flexion is chillin’ around 135-140 degrees
Hyperextension & heel pop is coming along
Stairs are getting easier, especially going up
Introducing body weight and light hamstring work
Biking is smooooth
Haven’t had any Tylenol in over a week
Upper body getting STRONG with the volume of 3x/week
Ready to have more lower body mixed in
Incisions look clean

Mental health is challenged, will talk more about that in another post🙃

But I’m still showing up every day & am grateful for the team that I work with at to help me along the way🫶

You aren’t going to throw the whole ring away because one diamond fell out.

So why do we treat ourselves that way in health & fitness?

One hard season, missed week, weight fluctuations, or setback doesn’t erase everything you’ve built.

You are still strong. Still capable. Still worthy of continuing. 🫶

F*ck the haters, you keep working on you without caring about what others think.

30 years from now, they’re going to be the ones breaking a hip when they fall, or can’t get up because they cared more about being a skinny fragile human than putting on muscle and building a strong body.

I’d rather be heavier and stacked with muscle to carry my husband through a burning building than be the helpless smallest version of myself who has a hard time carrying my suitcase up a flight of stairs.

Made it through my first workout post surgery 💪

I probably could have gone last week, but I did not feel confident enough to walk 10 minutes to my gym since I’m not cleared to drive yet.

Even this morning, I was trying to negotiate with myself. What if my leg gets too tired to get me home? Should we just try tomorrow? Do we wait until next week?

But after spending lots of time on my feet over the weekend, I knew I had the capacity to do it. It was just fighting off the ‘what if’s’.

And I’m so happy that I said f*** it. Because really, if I got too tired to walk home, I could call a cab or a friend. I could take some time a rest up before walking home. And it’s not like I was going in there to do a lower body day.

& honestly looking forward to some upper body DOMS this week 😂
