Jessica Harms knows how to persevere.
As a breast cancer survivor and a full-time single parent, Harms is constantly pushing herself to new limits.
“I refuse to give up no matter what I'm faced with, whether in business or my personal life,” she says. “There are ups and downs, but what you choose to do in those moments defines your character and your success as a female entrepreneur.”
Five years ago, Harms founded Little Spa & Boutique, which she operates from her home.
“I came into a situation 11 years ago where I needed to work, and I decided to take the chance to go on my own,” she explains. “My son came to work with me from two months old to nine months old, until I was able to find childcare.”
“It takes a ton of work and perseverance to balance the needs of a business and home, and I am far from perfect, but I am constantly making the necessary adjustments to reach my goals.”
Children are always welcome at the spa, as Harms believes that parents should embrace self care and teach it to their young ones.
“Self care is within every part of my business, from the foundational steps of each service, to the design of the room, to the very last touch,” she says. “When a client arrives, it’s all about them.”
While Harms originally planned to move into a commercial location, having a home-based business allows her kids to see the dynamics of how a small company operates.
“I love that my daughter can see me in my element and know that she can achieve whatever she sets her mind to, and as my son grows, he gets to witness his mother push through and accomplish her goals,” she says
With 17 years of experience, Harms provides top quality service.

“It is constantly changing in this cosmetology world, so I keep learning and advancing my skill set,” she explains. “I have a passion for helping others, and it brings me great pride and joy to be in a career where I can apply this.”
Harms, who received training at the Academy of Cosmetology in Dartmouth, is a licensed esthetician under the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia.
Prior to moving to Kamloops and launching Little Spa & Boutique, she owned Serenity Aesthetics, a spa in Cold Lake.
“I always had this dream that I wanted to have my own spa,” she says. “Owning your business comes with many challenges and uncertainties, but it is an excellent opportunity to grow, and by providing an open space for people to be themselves, I have built authentic connections.”
Many of Harms’ clients were part of her journey through cancer.
“They shared their personal stories, sent encouragement, and even dropped off items for my kids,” she explains. “They are my livelihood, and without them, Little Spa & Boutique wouldn’t exist, and I’m so grateful that it does.”
Little Spa & Boutique offers waxing, skin care, hand and foot care, as well as body treatments for adults and youth.
In addition, the business carries eco-friendly, vegan and natural products, including skin care, body care, foot care, candles, diffusers, makeup and more, in-store and online.
“I cannot wait to find more ways to include more selfcare into each of my treatments,” she adds. “I just love making people feel good.”

Just a little background on Pure Revive Spa

I have been a Licensed Esthetician for over 13 years. I graduated from the Academy of Cosmetology located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Throughout my thirteen years of experience, I have taken numerous classes from advanced skin care, product knowledge, and business seminars.

Five years of owning Syrenity Esthetics had been not just a wonderful learning experience but I had, had the privilege of meeting so many amazing clients. They all watched not just my son grow up, but also welcomed my daughter into their lives as if she was part of their families. Just as I had the pleasure to personally get to know each and everyone while watching their families grow. It was hard to say goodbye to so many wonderful people and close the spa 2016. But with our family completed, we made the decision to move our family to BC; setting down roots for our children to grow up.
