Some days the real challenge isn’t finishing the task. It’s staying present when things start to feel unfamiliar.

Psychologist Susan David, PhD, put it simply: “Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life.”

The tension before a big decision. The nerves before an important conversation. The unsettled feeling that shows up when something actually matters to you. That can simply mean you’re on a path with real stakes.

This isn’t about pushing through every feeling or ignoring what needs care. It’s about learning to tell the difference between discomfort that grows you and discomfort that wears on you, and giving yourself permission to keep going when it’s the growth kind.

We wrote a full reflection on this quote, including where it comes from and how it connects to therapy. Link in bio if you’d like to read more.

Some Friday warmth from the Gloucester team. ☀️

Tina Wilston, RP | CRPO Supervisor , Co-Founder and Clinical Director, and Yvonne Burwash , Director of Neurofeedback, a familiar MindSpa moment to close out the week.

As we head into the long weekend, take a little time to slow down, if you can.

We’ll be here when you’re ready.

Some days 'the good life' looks nothing like you pictured, and that's okay. Carl Rogers reminds us it was never about arriving anywhere. It's the small, ongoing choice to keep growing, keep showing up, keep becoming. 🌿

This line is from Carl R. Rogers, PhD, psychologist, 1947 APA president, and founder of the person-centred approach to therapy, from his 1961 book On Becoming a Person: A Therapist's View of Psychotherapy. Decades later, it's still one of the clearest definitions of growth we know.

Where's your direction taking you this week?

More income can help, but it doesn’t automatically create financial security or peace of mind.

Financial stress is often connected to uncertainty, avoidance, and not having a clear picture of where things stand. Sometimes, understanding your finances and having a plan can make a bigger difference than simply earning more.

In this episode of The MindSpa Podcast, Tina Wilston speaks with Certified Financial Planner® Melany Goodhue about money, financial anxiety, and the role clarity can play in reducing overwhelm.

Three years. Three locations. One incredible team. 🤍

This August marks three years of MindSpa, and we wanted to take a moment for the people who’ve made it what it is.

Across Kanata, Gloucester and Pembroke, our team brings care, compassion and dedication to creating spaces where people can feel heard, supported and understood.

To our clients, thank you for trusting us with your stories. To our team, thank you for the thoughtfulness you bring to this work every day. And to our community, thank you for being part of these first three years.

We’re grateful to be here, and to keep growing alongside you.

Happy Birthday, Tina! Wishing our co-founder and clinical director a beautiful day!

Perimenopause and menopause can bring changes that reach far beyond physical symptoms. They may also affect identity, emotions, relationships, body awareness and a person’s sense of purpose.

Second Spring is an eight-week, in-person art therapy group for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Through creative expression, guided reflection and connection with others, participants will have space to explore this changing season of life.

No previous art experience is required. The focus is on expression and reflection, not artistic ability.

7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
MindSpa Mental Health Centre, Gloucester

Financial stress can affect how we sleep, how we relate to the people around us, the decisions we avoid, and even how secure we feel day to day.

Tina Wilston recently sat down with Melany Goodhue, Certified Financial Planner® and founder of Pulse Wealth Management, for an upcoming episode of The MindSpa Podcast.

Their conversation explores the human side of money , financial anxiety, avoidance, emotional spending, the money stories we grow up with, and how finances can show up in our relationships.

Melany’s episode will be released in September.
In the meantime, we’ve published an article exploring why conversations about money are often connected to mental and emotional wellbeing too. Link in bio.
