Some stays become more than a getaway.

We often hear from guests who arrive needing rest, space, or simply a break from the pace of everyday life - and leave having reconnected with something much deeper.

This story is a beautiful reminder that meaningful connection sometimes begins with slowing down long enough to truly see one another again. Away from routines, distractions, and demands, there can be space to remember what matters most.

At The Sentinel, we feel incredibly honoured to hold space for moments like these - quiet mornings, uninterrupted conversations, shared stillness, and the kind of presence that can gently bring people back to each other.

Thank you to our guests for sharing this with us.

There’s a feeling people often describe when they arrive at The Sentinel - a sense of exhale.

Many of our rooms open onto views of Kootenay Lake and the Purcell Mountains, while the spaces themselves are designed with a quiet simplicity: natural light, original artwork, and an understated, calming atmosphere.

As Janet shares, there’s something about the balance of nature, stillness, and simple elegance that immediately helps people settle in.

Sometimes it’s the smallest details that create the deepest sense of rest.

On Saturday, July 18th, The Sentinel hosts a community Ecstatic Dance - a DJ-guided movement journey designed for exploration, expression, and release.

No choreography, no expectations, just space to move in your own way, at your own pace. Through sound, breath, and intention, the dance floor becomes a place to step out of the mind and into the body.

Whether you come to expand, soften, or simply be in motion, each experience unfolds in its own way, grounded in presence and supported by a respectful, shared container.

Featuring a musical journey by Apukuna, known for weaving sound with the rhythm of the breath.

Join us for a day of movement, connection, and something new!

Meet Dayna, our Events Manager at The Sentinel.

Dayna is behind the scenes of many of the experiences that unfold here, working closely with facilitators, coordinating retreat logistics, and ensuring each detail is thoughtfully considered from arrival to departure.

Her role sits at the intersection of structure and care. From planning and scheduling to on-the-ground coordination, she helps create the conditions for each retreat to run smoothly, so both guests and facilitators can stay focused on what matters most.

Whether it’s a multi-day immersion or a more intimate gathering, Dayna brings a steady, attentive presence to the process, helping translate vision into experience!

A simple rhythm that works with the body. At The Sentinel, the sauna and cold plunge aren’t just amenities, they’re part of the experience.

Heat supports circulation, muscle relaxation, and a gradual unwinding of the nervous system. Cold immersion can help reduce inflammation, sharpen mental clarity, and build resilience over time. Together, they create a cycle that encourages both release and reset.

Set against the lake and surrounding forest, it becomes something more intuitive - a way to move between activation and stillness, effort and ease.

It’s often these small, repeated moments that stay with people long after they leave.

What we offer at The Sentinel is simple in structure, but intentional in depth.

There are three ways to experience the space:

– Retreats
Our core focus. Multi-day, facilitator-led programs (typically 3–10 days) designed for immersive, group-based work. Held in spaces like our maloca, where the heart of each program unfolds.

– Hotel Stays
Outside of retreat dates, The Sentinel is open for overnight visits - whether for a reset, time in nature, or a quieter kind of restoration.

– Private Work
For those seeking a more focused, one-on-one experience, we offer multi-day private immersions with experienced practitioners from our faculty.

Across all three, the throughline is consistent: a setting designed for presence, privacy, and thoughtful support.
The work looks different for everyone. But the conditions for an amazing stay are here.

The Sentinel presents View From The Edge; a 4-day immersion designed for spaceholders, facilitators, and practitioners ready to deepen both their personal work and the way they support others.

Rooted in the concept of “Zerospace”, a return to clarity, simplicity, and presence - this retreat brings together inquiry-based coaching (IBC), parts work, and heart-centered practices to explore how we meet ourselves, our patterns, and our capacity to serve.

Over four days, you’ll engage in experiential learning designed to:
– Uncover and shift limiting patterns and beliefs
– Deepen your relationship with your internal landscape
– Expand your ability to hold space for others with clarity and integrity
– Integrate practical tools into your existing practice

Alongside the work, there is space to rest, reset, and reconnect - supported by the natural setting of The Sentinel.

Dates: July 2nd - July 6th, 2026
Location: The Sentinel - Kaslo, BC

This is a retreat for those who guide others, and are ready to be guided themselves.

“Live this life as light and empty as the number zero.”

At The Sentinel, this isn’t about absence, it’s about what becomes possible when there’s less to hold onto.

Less noise, less pressure to be somewhere else or someone else.
More space to arrive as you are.

Through time on the land, intentional programming, and moments of stillness in between, The Sentinel offers a setting where that kind of lightness can begin to take shape, not forced, but felt.
