This isn’t the story I would have chosen to tell.
But it’s the one I’ve been called to share.
My dad was cremated before I even knew he had died. There were no goodbyes, no chance to hold his hand, no rituals to bring closure. Just a phone call, a week too late, and a lifetime of complicated grief.
Grief is hard enough when it follows the “rules.” When it doesn’t, it can feel unbearable. And yet, so many of us carry stories like this: unspoken, misunderstood, unseen.
My hope in sharing mine is simple: to create community, connection, and conversation around a topic we rarely know how to talk about.
