Just a life update and how I’ve been moving in community!

Play therapy and always following their lead xx

I’m training for a competition in Nelson. My training schedule has not been the strongest this year / in summer - and I’m giving myself grace to just show up in the best way as I can. It doesn’t always have to be full on 💦

Surfing with my gals. An opportunity to be present be playful, and just be still for a week. Lots of changes in my life this past yr (all amazing and good), but the opportunity to be playful and move… is exactly what my nervous system needed! (And we need to play more as adults)!

3k rips with her 🖤

somedays 3k is enough.

Seeing people move and connecting community lights up my heart. It’s exactly what we need.

Jayda, UBC MPT 1 Student coming soon xx

I’m building out a coaching platform / course. I’m not rushing or pushing this as I want to be very intentional about how I built this and integrate my passion around movement mental health, not only to connect with more people, but really step into spaces of education // integration // and more connection.

I love to be silly + present + playful + connected.

Thanks for being here.

Enjoy the end of summer xx

being an intentional conversation will also be in conversation with your own parts in your own system… This is emotional regulation. This is self attunement, and this is IFS therapy ✨💕📄

There’s an intersection between movement and mental health, and this is one of them.

In EMDR, we call it reprocessing: revisiting something distressing, in small doses, until the nervous system stops reacting to it and starts settling.

A hard set works the same way. Rep after rep, lap after lap, the body meets discomfort in doses it can actually handle. It doesn’t reprocess trauma. But it trains the same skill: staying present inside distress instead of bracing against it or shutting down.

That’s the interplay. Therapy teaches the nervous system to hold distress through the story. Movement teaches it through the body. Both build the same thing: capacity.

There are so many parallels between movement and mental health, and this is one of them.

How do we hold a full body, psychosomatic experience of trauma? The same way we hold a hard set. Reps on the track, replaying, reworking, redoing the scene, again and again, until the body starts to desensitize instead of react.

That’s reprocessing. Done through movement the same way it’s done in therapy.

Learning to surrender to distress instead of fighting it is how we heal it. Not by avoiding the hard rep, or the hard memory, but by staying in it long enough for the body to learn it’s safe to let go.
