In this clip from heCast Episode 168, Doug Lawrence shares a simple but important message for men: keeping everything bottled up does not help you, your family, or anyone around you.
Doug also speaks to those who are supporting someone else. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is listen, truly hear what they are saying, and respond without judgment.
This is the kind of conversation more men need to hear.

ADHD support often needs to go beyond medication alone.
In this clip from heCast Episode 167, Dr. Carey Heller explains that while medication may help with focus, it does not automatically create executive function skills.
Those skills include time management, organization, planning, task initiation, and follow-through.
He also talks about how ADHD can impact self-esteem, especially when people are not given the right tools, strategies, and support to manage the real-life challenges that come with it.

ADHD is often misunderstood.
In this clip from heCast Episode 167, Dr. Carey Heller explains that ADHD is considered a neurodevelopmental disorder, meaning symptoms typically begin in childhood, even if someone is diagnosed later as an adult.
He also breaks down one of the biggest misconceptions: people with ADHD can often focus very well on things they enjoy. The real challenge is often regulating attention when the task is not interesting, rewarding, or easy to engage with.
That is why advice like “just focus better” can be so frustrating and unhelpful.

Anxiety can feel like it comes out of nowhere, but often there are patterns.
In this clip from heCast Episode 166, Brian Sachetta shares a practical exercise for building awareness around the emotional states we move through every day.
Sit down and write out 5–10 emotions you regularly experience. Then ask:
How do I get into this emotional state?
How do I act when I’m in it?
How do I usually get out of it?
For Brian, anxiety often shows up through overthinking, sitting too much, not moving his body, trying to predict the future, and seeking certainty.
When you write those patterns down, you create a map. And the next time anxiety shows up, you may be able to recognize it sooner and say, “I’m in it right now.”
That awareness can be the first step toward interrupting the cycle.

Being alone is not always a bad thing.
But being isolated, stuck on the couch, replaying the same thoughts over and over again can become a really hard place to be.
In this clip from heCast Episode 166, Brian Sachetta shares an honest reminder about rumination, isolation, and the importance of recognizing when our own minds are pulling us into a darker place.
Sometimes the most important thing we can do is interrupt the pattern. Move. Reach out. Get outside. Talk to someone. Change the environment.
You don’t have to sit in it alone.
