đź’— Treatment Thursday

Relaxation Massage

Not every massage needs to be focused on deep pressure or addressing a specific problem.

Sometimes you simply need time to slow down, switch off, and be cared for.

Relaxation massage uses comfortable, flowing techniques and pressure that is adapted to you and what feels good for your body that day.

It can be a wonderful choice when you’re looking for:

đź’— Time away from the demands of everyday life

đź’— Relief from general muscle tension

đź’— A chance to slow down and relax

đź’— A calming, quiet treatment experience

đź’— An opportunity to reconnect with your body

Your massage doesn’t have to be intense to be effective.

We can talk about what you’re looking for before your treatment and adjust pressure, positioning, techniques, and focus to create an experience that feels right for you.

Sometimes the most therapeutic thing you can do is give yourself permission to relax. đź’—

đź’— Wellness Wednesday

Deep Breathing

After breast surgery, it can be easy to unconsciously hold tension or take shallower breaths while your body is healing.

Taking a few slow, comfortable breaths can be a simple way to pause, relax, and reconnect with your body.

Try this today:

đź’— Get comfortable, sitting or lying down.

đź’— Place your hands around the sides of your rib cage.

đź’— Slowly breathe in through your nose and notice your ribs gently expanding.

đź’— Slowly breathe out and allow your body to soften.

💗 Repeat for 5–10 comfortable breaths.

There is no need to force a huge breath. Comfortable and relaxed is the goal.

If you’re recovering from surgery, follow any specific breathing or movement recommendations from your healthcare team.

Sometimes self-care can be as simple as stopping for a moment and taking a breath. đź’—

đź’— Testimonial Tuesday

Sometimes a few words say it all.

“Melanie is simply amazing.”

Thank you to this wonderful client for taking the time to share such a kind message. đź’—

It is such a privilege to have clients trust me with their care, whether they’re coming in for ongoing massage therapy, working through an injury or tension, or navigating recovery after breast surgery or cancer treatment.

I never take that trust for granted.

Thank you for allowing me to do work that I truly love. đź’—

MASTECTOMY MONDAY 🤍 | THE BENEFITS OF EARLY MOVEMENT

After breast surgery, it can be tempting to keep the area completely still because you’re worried about hurting something.

But once you’ve been cleared by your surgical team, gentle movement is an important part of recovery.

Early, appropriate movement can help:

🤍 Maintain shoulder and arm mobility
🤍 Reduce stiffness
🤍 Encourage comfortable movement patterns
🤍 Support your return to everyday activities
🤍 Help you reconnect with your body after surgery

Early movement doesn’t mean doing more or pushing harder.

It means starting where your body is today and gradually building from there.

Your surgical team’s instructions always come first, particularly in the early stages of healing.

Gentle. Gradual. Consistent. 🤍

SELF-CARE SUNDAY 🤍 | SLOW DOWN

In a world that constantly tells us to do more, sometimes the most supportive thing we can do for ourselves is slow down.

You don’t have to fill every moment.

Give yourself permission to rest.
To move slowly.
To sit outside.
To take a nap.
To breathe.
To do absolutely nothing for a little while.

Especially during recovery, rest isn’t something you need to earn.

Your body is doing important work, even when you’re resting.

So today, take the pressure off.

Slow down.
Breathe.
Let yourself be where you are. 🤍

SURVIVOR SATURDAY 🤍 | HOPE

Some days, hope feels easy.

Other days, it can feel very far away.

Breast cancer recovery can be filled with uncertainty, waiting, setbacks, milestones, and emotions that change from one day to the next.

You don’t have to feel positive every day.

Hope can be something much quieter.

Hope can be getting through today.
Hope can be noticing one small improvement.
Hope can be allowing yourself to imagine what comes next.
Hope can simply be believing that things can feel different with time.

Hold onto whatever hope looks like for you today. 🤍

FEATURE FRIDAY 🤍 | MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

Breast cancer and surgery can affect so much more than your physical body.

Fear, anxiety, sadness, frustration, changes in body image, uncertainty about the future, and the emotional ups and downs of recovery are all things that deserve support.

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to reach out.

Consider building a support team that might include:

🤍 A counsellor or therapist
🤍 A support group
🤍 Friends or family you trust
🤍 Your healthcare team
🤍 Cancer support organizations
🤍 Other people who understand what you’re going through

Asking for support isn’t a sign that you aren’t coping.

It’s part of taking care of yourself.

And sometimes, having someone simply say “I understand” can make a difficult day feel a little lighter.

If you’re struggling emotionally, please reach out to your healthcare provider or a qualified mental health professional for support.

TREATMENT THURSDAY 🤍 | SCAR TISSUE TREATMENT

A surgical scar doesn’t just affect the surface of your skin.

As the body heals, scar tissue can become firm, tight, sensitive, or less mobile. Sometimes the surrounding tissues can feel restricted too.

Scar tissue treatment focuses on improving the mobility and comfort of the tissues around a healed surgical area, using techniques appropriate for your stage of recovery.

Depending on your individual needs, treatment may include gentle work directly around the scar as well as the surrounding chest, breast, rib cage, abdomen, back, shoulder, or arm.

Treatment should never be about forcing or aggressively “breaking up” a scar.

It’s about working with your body, not against it. 🤍

Your healing timeline, surgical history, tissue sensitivity, and comfort all matter.

Today is the launch of CMTA's campaign to remove the GST/HST on massage therapy in the 2026 federal budget - removing the tax lowers the cost of care for patients.

This is about affordability.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY 🤍 | RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

Recovery isn’t just about what you do for your body. Sometimes, it’s also about giving your body permission to slow down.

After surgery, treatment, or during a stressful period, your nervous system can stay in a heightened state. Taking a few intentional moments to relax can help you reconnect with your body and create space for rest and recovery.

Try something simple today:

🌿 Take 5 slow, comfortable breaths
🌿 Let your shoulders soften
🌿 Stretch gently without forcing
🌿 Step outside for a few minutes
🌿 Put your phone down and sit quietly
🌿 Listen to calming music

You don’t need a complicated routine.

Sometimes, a few quiet minutes are enough to remind your body that it’s safe to rest.

Give yourself permission to pause today. 🤍
