Two simple stretches for a stiff lower back and sore knees — demonstrated properly so you can follow the form.

Child's pose into cat-cow for the back. Knee-to-chest stretch for the knees and quads. Hold each, breathe, don't rush.

💾 Save it for the next time a busy weekend catches up with you.

Most people don't realize the place that hurts is often not the place that needs treatment.

The body is incredibly good at compensating — but compensation has a cost. Eventually, you feel it somewhere.

Your left hip might be tight because your right foot isn't landing right. Your neck pain might be coming from your thoracic spine. Your headaches might trace back to your sacrum.

That's why I spend the first session doing a full assessment. I'm not just looking at where it hurts — I'm looking at why.

Save this if it made something click. ✔️

A free tip that only costs you two minutes:

If you sit for work, set a timer for every 45 minutes. When it goes off, just change position for two minutes.

Not a whole workout. Not 20 minutes of stretching you'll never actually do.

Stand up. Roll your shoulders. Reach overhead. Walk to the kitchen and back. Do a couple of slow neck circles.

Your body doesn't get stiff because you sit. It gets stiff because you sit STILL. Motion is the fix, and it doesn't have to be dramatic.

Set the timer. That's the whole tip.

Here's something that surprises a lot of first-time patients: your first appointment is mostly me asking questions.

When did this start? What makes it better? What makes it worse? What were you doing in the months before it showed up? What does your day actually look like — your job, your sleep, your training?

It can feel like a lot. But every question is a clue. Pain rarely shows up out of nowhere, and the story of how it started usually points straight at what's driving it.

By the time my hands are on you, I already have a working theory. The assessment just confirms or rules it out.

So when you come in — bring the details. Even the ones you think don't matter. Especially those, honestly.

I've been doing this for 20 years. And the thing that comes up most often isn't a diagnosis — it's "I didn't know physiotherapy could help with that."

Craniosacral therapy for chronic headaches. Visceral manipulation for digestive pain. Neural manipulation for numbness that has nothing to do with your spine.

Most people come in for neck pain and leave understanding that their body is a system, not a collection of separate parts.

If something's been going on that you've just learned to live with — it's worth asking. Drop it in the comments or send me a message.

Unhinged things I do as a physiotherapist and sports mom:
• Assess my kids' running gait from the bleachers and say nothing
• Notice everyone's posture at the grocery store
• Watch someone lift something wrong and physically hold myself back
• Diagnose my patients' new complaints before they finish the sentence
• Come home from a tournament weekend and immediately treat myself
• Know exactly which muscle is tight just from how someone walks through my door

"Just rest it." 🙅♀️
We hear this one a lot — and while rest absolutely has its place, for most soft tissue injuries it's only part of the picture. Complete rest for too long can actually slow things down.

Gentle, intentional movement is usually your friend. The key word being intentional — which is where we come in.

(Please don't use this as an excuse to run a marathon on an injured ankle. 😅)

Your sternocleidomastoid. Say that five times fast. 😄

It's the muscle running down the side of your neck — and if you spend any time at a desk, in a car, or looking at a phone (so, everyone), it's probably tighter than it should be.

This is exactly how to stretch it properly, because done wrong it's not doing much for you.

A few tips:
👉 Go slow — this area can be sensitive
👉 Keep your shoulder down as you tilt
👉 Hold for 20–30 seconds each side and breathe through it

Neck or jaw tension ? Bippity-boppity-boo: This one's for you. 👆

Save and try it today. 💙
