Rhythmic movement has a naturally calming effect on the body, it seems to be hard-wired into our being and can be observed from birth.
Two common examples of rhythmic movements which assist and benefit:
- Gentle bouncing or rocking will calm a restless infant- parents instinctively know this.
- REM sleep is a stage of sleep where our eyes move/vibrate behind closed eyes. REM plays an important role in dreaming, memory, emotional processing, and healthy brain development.
TRE® is a modality that taps into the body’s innate response of shaking which often occurs after a stressful/traumatic event, almost like a ‘reset’ button to help release muscular tension, dump adrenalin , calm the nervous system and restore balance.
Contact me if you would like to further explore this tension release process. Individual and occasional small group classes offered in Kimberley, BC. Planning a small group workshop in July. Message Bev at TRE in East Kootenays if you would like to join, let me know days/ times that work for you.
